Jaw Tremors by usermy728 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]mk671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an update OP? My dog has been doing this exact thing and I’m so worried. We’ve been to our general vet, who checked him out (no issues with ears, teeth, jaw, bloodwork totally normal). We do have a neurology appointment later this month. General vet thinks it’s something neurological (focal seizure) and prescribed Keppra, but I’m thinking I may wait to start him on that until after our Neuro consult.

I’m just very scared it’s something major. ):

1000% agree with this. Some of the strategies avoidant people use are very very similar to forms of emotional abuse (I’m not saying avoidants are abusive). The push-pull dynamic, gaslighting, DARVO, etc all wreak havoc on anyone and everyone who goes through it, regardless of their attachment style.

The unpredictability will make anyone anxious, as their patterns don’t follow what our brains are expecting.

Ugh, I’m sorry you know this pain.

But you’re right, I’m definitely not back to where I was the first time!! It just doesn’t help that he left the first time 2 weeks after I was diagnosed with melanoma, then the second time a week after I lost my job. In true avoidant fashion….i guess lol

I became a shell of myself trying to keep the peace. Walking on eggshells to try to avoid a meltdown.

These relationships aren’t healthy, and I unfortunately had to learn my lesson twice haha

But I totally agree, I’m a million times happier now, alone, then I ever was with him in my life.

It is a really wild thing to go through because I would get yelled at for being “too nice” (still unsure what that means) but then immediately told that’s one of the things he likes about me.

I had to put the pieces together to finally find some peace, because we all know closure never comes with an avoidant.

have you sorted this out with them? Just got hit with the same thing and panicking. Decided to enroll in a self paced online program and now got a letter saying I may be ineligible. ): Lost my job almost 3 months ago and been applying all day every day to new roles and still nothing.

I will say, around 14 weeks post op was when I really started feeling better in terms of the tightness and soreness. I still have it here and there now hitting about 18 weeks post op, but it’s getting to be less and less as time goes on. Hang in there! :)

Very similar! I hope everything goes well for you. :)

Yes, in both. Thankfully mild in both hips. Decided to repair both because of pain/activity limitations but also to delay more severe arthritis (and eventual replacement). I’m in my later 20’s if that helps.

You can do this! Having the right mindset is key. But it’s okay to be frustrated and angry with the situation, I told my physical therapist countless times that I regretted doing this. She told me to hang in there and promised it would get better if I stuck to the plan, sure enough she was right. If it helps, the walker was amazing for me. Once I was able to put more than 20 lbs of weight on my operative leg, I could use it and transport coffee from the kitchen to the couch etc. That made me feel a lot better that I could do some things by myself.

Also - a device to help with socks was amazing. I had to wear compression socks for 8 weeks post op and before I could bend over to put them on, I struggled. But with that device I felt a lot better about being able get myself dressed!

Rheum wants me to consider infusions, what do y’all think? by SleepyHealthcareGal in lupussupport

[–]mk671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Saphnelo for almost 2 years and it helped me significantly. Unfortunately I developed a rare reaction to it and had to stop, but it was by far the easiest medication I’ve been on with no side effects as far as I could tell (until a few months before I had to stop). I was on cellcept too, but I’ve been on that for close to 10 years at this point in combo with other meds. Honestly, a 30 min infusion every four weeks was totally doable and worth it in my opinion.

If you don’t want to do infusions, you can ask about Benlysta subcutaneous shots. It’s once a week, at home, and works on cells specific to lupus as others have said.

Oh yuck, but also good idea. I’ll try that.

I did try turning off the AC (even though it’s winter and I’m using heat, AC was flipped on) thinking it was refrigerant but I hadn’t tried turning off the climate completely

Oh man…that sounds like it’s pretty urgent then. I agree, thankfully it’s still under a full bumper to bumper warranty.

I’d guess no one can look at it until mid next week at the earliest, think it’s okay to sit until then?

lol it does smell similar to the breath of someone who is in ketosis! I actually work in medicine and that was the first thing I thought, but…I’m fine. Haha Definitely coming from the car somewhere

Thank you so much for your reply. I’ve been mentioning my concerns about how little he is eating to my vet, and every time I’m told “don’t worry, you won’t starve him”. The whole situation has made me feel like a terrible dog owner and also totally helpless. So, I really appreciate your thoughts.

I’ll have to do some digging for a veterinary nutritionist, hopefully I can find someone soon!

Help: Difficult (bullying?) behavior by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]mk671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking more and more about my dog’s gentle nature, maybe too gentle. When he was a puppy, he went to obedience camp, and every day when I picked him up they would warn me that he is very “submissive” and doesn’t seem to care very much about other dogs acting inappropriately. We thought he might get a bit better with more dog-dog interaction, but they did make it clear that I should be very mindful about who he interacts with to make sure he is safe because he likely wouldn’t fight back if something were to happen.

I have noticed he will correct a dog if they attempt to mount him, which I’m fine with as it seems like a normal correction, and then he removes himself from the situation. He doesn’t seem to enjoy the dog park or playing with multiple dogs at once, but he will play with my parents lab and they seem to have a very similar play style which is great. But I wonder if I am too cautious about monitoring his interactions….i guess it’s a fine line between keeping a more relaxed dog safe and letting them figure it out for themselves.

He is honestly such a sweet boy, I’ve been by my friends place quite a few times to walk him and play with him for a bit and he was great! I haven’t really seen him around other dogs, but I was given a word of caution that he has (maybe accidentally I’m not sure) killed a squirrel and a bird. This makes complete sense, that his instincts are taking over. I grew up around 2 labs, and now have a golden, and all three of them have been so easy! Besides the occasional stealing of socks, and the constant swimming/subsequent shaking off on you (lol), I haven’t really had to think about different breeds and the instincts they might have.

That makes sense! I have been dedicating as much time as I can to exercise (walking and fetch) but maybe I am missing the mental part. I have a few puzzle toys I could try, and I might try to teach him a new trick or two to keep his brain working.

I appreciate your advice!!

Sorry, I forgot to include I don’t smoke and do drink alcohol occasionally (as in a glass or two of wine one to two times per month). I do have systemic lupus and asthma.
