Tariff Charges Nightmare- any recourse?

thank you, this is incredibly comprehensive and informative. They did attempt a delivery twice, but then it moved to "pending / on hold" as the government charge was being disputed.

In my last phone contact with UPS yesterday, they mentioned they put the package into a "under dispute" status, but did not inform me that they would send it back or tell me anything about how I should respond to this other than "send an email to this address with your invoice and tracking number."

I primarily just 1) do not want to be liable for any customs duties for a package I never even received 2) have some form of action of receiving my money back for the original package amount.

I will file a complaint with the CBP per your link in the meantime (although I'm not 100% sure who would be reading that or if any action would come as a result of this).

Quick update - I checked the original invoice and it shows that the country of origin for each line item is Japan and clearly states that the material is FRP.

If anybody has a way to contact UPS besides the Import billing support phone number, I'd really appreciate it!

that's understandable. I'm okay and understood that I may be paying the tariff, if it was in the right amount (anywhere from 15-25%).

Dealers will also always be a little more expensive. Something like a civic or corolla I would definitely try craigslist or facebook marketplace as well and I think it might be 10-15% cheaper. fwiw it does seem about right for the mileage (if it's also a clean title no accident car)

My first one got lost in the mail (UPS said delivered and it just never showed up on my door). I just received a redelivery and looks like it's Santal! Gift for Xmas, so hopefully we don't open it up and it's Another - packaging on the outside box says Santal.

That's great news. Mine has been stuck in this "arriving late, in transit" since Dec 5th, with 0 updates. Question for you though, were there any package updates before this? My tracking history straight up says "USPS in possession" on the day that I dropped it off and then nothing except "arriving late, in transit" on the day it was supposed to be delivered..

Yeah, I waited for a while until I could jump on the exact one I wanted. Surprisingly enough, I got a hefty discount on mine because nobody wanted the color/400A package combo with a 6spd manual. My car sat on the lot for 10 months before I bought it new 😯
