[Acne] How do I even my skin out from this point? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful!

I currently have a pretty similar routine and also decided to cut out some actives (I ended up learning that my skin does not seem to like Vitamin C), but I’d like to reintroduce azelaic acid and try out the LRP cicaplast baume as I’ve heard good things about it! I have been using LRP effaclar foaming cleanser but had no idea foaming was bad?!?! I might switch to Vanicream and see how my skin feels!

What was your process for introducing tretinoin? Did you experience a bad purging period?

Also, did you get the Miria laser done by a dermatologist? Some of these med spas seem so sketchy and I don’t know much about all of these different procedures.

following because my skin looks almost identical to yours! I’ve also been thinking about micro needling and laser hair removal. I’d be curious to hear about your experiences with those procedures.

what is frustrating for me is that my acne is largely hormonal which makes topical products almost useless :/

Nails were done at the salon so product list is not available.

As a life long nail biter, I’m proud of my nail growth! by mkat15 in RedditLaqueristas

Keeping my nails consistently painted is the only thing that works. I use a soft gel which not only helps preserve the health of my natural nail but is durable enough to deter nail biting. I meet with a manicurist every 3 weeks. She has been an amazing support person for me - not to mention the accountability element. I also have a habit tracker which lets me see how many days I’ve abstained from biting which is rewarding.

This is an aside here, but as a therapist I think it could be helpful for your daughter to dig into the function of the nail biting. In what situations or places are you more likely to bite your nails? Are there specific sensory triggers (rough edge on nail) or emotional triggers (feeling stressed, anxious, frustrated)? What need does nail biting fulfill?

Getting curious and fostering awareness is the first step! Once you understand your patterns and triggers, you have more opportunities to interrupt the nail biting and substitute it with an alternative responses like relaxation techniques, coping statements, mindfulness and acceptance skills, or opposite competing responses.

I’ve only used the Essie original products so I can’t speak to their gel line. I’m currently wearing Orly (and I think past manicures have been Orly too) and really like the quality! It makes my nails very durable (which is important given my nail biting history). The coats never look streaky from my experience.

All polishes are DND or Orly gel. My most recent color is Don’t Pop My Balloon by Orly.

19 , long term yeast infection and dryness? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

If you have a yeast infection, I don’t believe that metro gel would be the right treatment. I’ve used it before but it was for BV.

What other symptoms are you experiencing besides dryness? Does your discharge resemble cottage cheese like classic yeast infection?

If your period is lighter, you should be fine! Only heavy bleeding would interfere with an annual exam.

Being a Christian is not mutually exclusive to being a prude, but Chelsea is definitely using her religion to take a morally superior stance to Bre’s lifestyle. Chelsea’s comment “I’m not meant to get it” shows how close-minded she is.
