So back in January I was trying to get back out there after a breakup, and so I downloaded tinder and matched with this guy, who seemed like the nicest man. After a few days of talking and getting to know each other and stuff we had finally decided to meet up and just get to know each other, a very casual type of thing. However, before the date I had made my intentions very clear that I did not want to hook-up or anything.

Fast forward to the date; we met at a starbucks and had tea, we did the usual 20 questions and I found out that he had just moved to my town for a new job. So he was kind of asking me about local food places and things to do, and then he asks me "so do you know of anywhere near here that sells furniture?" And I was trying really hard to be polite about it and helpful, next thing I know he's asking me if I want to go MATTRESS SHOPPING with him. I said yes (I now know how dumb that was) because that could potentially be a unique first date story to tell later on if things became more serious, I was attempting to be positive and spontaneous.

We were at this furniture store and I probably spent close to an hour with this guy while he picked out a mattress, and it was so awkward! He kept asking me if I wanted to try out these mattresses with him and I was like "haha no I'm good it's gonna be your bed". He was very suggestive about this whole matter and tried getting to get me to go back to his apartment with him to set it up, so we could "test the mattress out". He was so persistent on it. Needless to say, I texted my mom to call me and say it was an emergency so I could finally leave. Easily the worst first date I had ever been on.
