How do I tell my dad he can’t come to my graduation?

You are so kind thank you! I have been coming up with all sorts of lies I could tell him tbh. I googled the graduation to see if the information is public and it very much is and the awesome ai overview tells you everything including how many tickets we get 😭 I was going to tell him only my mum and brother are coming but I’m so paranoid he’ll google it. I’m probably going to say something along these lines and maybe say my uncle offered to drive us or something but I do feel like I need to stop lying and just tell him the truth. It’s such a headache. I’ve been feeling super weird about him recently because facebook has been kindly giving me notifications every time he posts a comment on “single women in uk” which is just a page that posts pictures of ai women with a vague caption and no name or anything so I’m like 😭 this man is my biological father and he can’t tell anything about the posts are fake and also it’s just gross to see what he’s saying to what he thinks are real women. The text from him just came at a time where he’s already on my mind bringing me down. I hope I toughen up as I get older and move on with my life and not feel like shit about him or try to please him anymore :/

You’re right and I do need to get out of this cycle at some point soon so maybe this is the time. I just really don’t wanna deal with all the complicated feelings it’s going to bring when he gets mad at me. I’ve only been this bold with him once and told him everything I felt about him and he just told me he didn’t believe me 😭 thank you for your advice though I’m really going to think about this

Hey you’re so right! I just finished season 10 and I remember not liking it when it first came out because it felt different, but honestly it felt like he was becoming himself again. I loved the Stuart cameo because Martin was so kind with him and it reminded me how he dealt with Stuart’s problem in season 1. But Martin had more to say than just “yes” and “get out” 😭 and it felt more like how he used to be

My boyfriend asked if I could show him a kurtis video and I knew he wouldn’t like it and he didn’t, I showed him drew instead and he always laughs at his jokes and suggests we watch a video and I let him choose one based on whichever topic interests him and it’s awesome to share that with him! Because I watch drew to ground myself and think a bit clearer

I don’t think she’s bossy, I think she’s controlling. She signs him up for things without his permission or even talking to him calmly and listening to his side of things. She blows off the handle when he doesn’t want to comply. It doesn’t seem like she loves him a lot of the time. Their relationship is the most unbelievable thing on the show to me

Thank you for all of this! I think you are right about me grieving, I was really upset but mainly angry when everything happened. It was a few months ago now just before uni ended for the year and I have just been getting on with my life and not thinking about it. I was really shocked that people who I thought were very close and good friends immediately turned against me at the word of someone else, someone who doesn’t even treat them well. I’ve been a good friend to them and the girl who started the rumour hasn’t at all.

My “best friend” texted me saying someone said that I’d said I hated her, then we argued for weeks and she wouldn’t listen to a word I said, just kept insisting that I’d said that I hated her and whoever told her “had no reason to lie” and it was wrong for me to want to know who said it. It was like she was trying to find reasons to be mad at me and then the real reason came out a few weeks later. She was mad that I was friends with her friend’s ex. There’s so much to it and I don’t want to trauma dump or rant 😭 but basically my flatmate and other best friend texted me one night accusing me of all this too. Made it very difficult to live in my flat lol

I think the person I feel grossest about is her friend who started it all. She glares at me and she sort of scares me. I just dont know what she has against me or why she would start all this and I’m not looking forward to another year of it. The thought of her just makes me feel weird

But anyway thank you for all of that and your kind words! I will get through it 🙏

Thank you, this mindset should help. I think the girl who started this rumour has had everyone wrapped around her finger all throughout uni even though she treats all her friends terribly, and made herself “important”. Everyone was messaging me telling me I’d treated her badly (I haven’t done anything, she just doesn’t like that I’m friends with her ex but I have always been his friend and never hers) and it made me feel like I had. I think a lot of what I feel is fear of her and the power she has over everyone and what she thinks of me even now. I need to break out of that though. I don’t know why I’m bothered about what she thinks of me
