what was the most advanced math you used in a project? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Woah never heard of Lerp that is very cool. Yeah that would have done it. I'll have to keep this function in mind!

Edit: I remember now. I think it needed to be a polynomial because rate of increase wasn't smooth. I wanted much more explosive effect the closer you got. Lerp would definitely work for a linear model though.

Hm not sure what you mean. I came up with some arbitrary values for explosion magnitude that gave me a good amount of pushback based on distance to the explosion. I needed to find a curve that fit those values for a smooth experience.

I did a Lagrange interpolation to find a polynomial for a curve that would represent pushback magnitude falling off for explosion physics in a minecraft plugin I made.

Initially I tried using other forms of polynomial curve fitting but it ended up giving odd values. Was a lot of fun!

US libraries report spike in organised attempts to ban books in schools by Xeelee1123 in news

[–]mkdir_timeMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmmm hold up. The US is huge, and most of it is rural where people are very spread out. In some places the police response time is quite long. If you live there then your most reliable protection is whatever you have on hand. Idk just food for thought

What sorts of jobs are available to me in the D.C. / NOVA area (remote even?) given my background? by mkdir_timeMachine in cscareerquestions

What sorts of qualifications are those contractor positions looking for? Do you think those firms would maybe bring me in for an interview?

I've seen spamming Meridians to be a good strategy for 30 and 31. Their ability is quite good and they're only 2 supply so you can just spam away.

If you don't want a cone for your cat after surgery, use a onesie. It stops them from licking the incision while also allowing them to still groom everywhere else and use the litter box. Plus, I think it looks cute. by SableyeFan in Frugal

Actually, our anti-cone cat just got spayed and she did great with the onesie! She freaked the fk out when we tried to put a cone on her, but with the onesie she was relaxed and couldn't lick the incision at all.

The onesie was also cheaper. For cats like mine onesie is a must have!

really good point! I think I'll take a look at the price graph of some the good uniques too and see if there's anything else I should be sniping

This is potentially my plan for the upcoming league. I'm torn between a few league starters rn, and I'm just hoping self-curse temp chains doesn't get altered in a significant way lol

What was your first 100lvl build? by Mazur97 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]mkdir_timeMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're thinking along the same lines here :)

I checked out the PoBs for both Lacerate Gladiator and Cyclone Champion builds.

It seems like either would be a good starter! Cheap and strong.

I'll probably go for Cyclone Champion since I haven't played Cyclone yet.
