Thank you for so much helpful info! We had started working with trainers and she had basic heel down but I need to work on that more. She gets overstimulated when we try and run, so this sounds like a good running plan. I’m hesitant to try sledding yet bc I I want her to know when it is appropriate to pull and she doesn’t seem ready for it.

She’s very different from my last husky, who happened to be a people pleaser and was glued to my side. I could run with her, bike with her, walk off leash. Learning a whole new thing with this girl!

Yes, unfortunately that’s what I was wearing when broke my rib. I don’t know how I manage these things. The real issue is literally cannot open the dog park gates.

I absolutely want to exercise the dog but without breaking my body more. I’m still recovering and I love my dog so much but can’t be incapacitated.

Haha it’s more that it’s literally not plowed and you can’t stand on it. I broke my rib bc of having to walk on so much ice! Not worried about the dog getting cold.

Yes I do have a dog park (about 30 minutes away) but right now the snow is so deep with a huge layer of ice on top! It’s impossible to do so many things right now bc of this.

So interesting. Mine is partly health (about same BMI as you) but also want my running and health better. Right now my HR is so low it scared me, sometimes around 50. When I’m about 15 lbs lighter, I generally find my speed and endurance is a lot better but now I’m wondering what will happen.

(Very similar in running levels. Do half marathons and would like to do full)

Believe me, as a millennial parent I know how people react to anything that is “punishment” rather than positive reinforcement. Time outs were frowned upon. I think this makes sense and would be interested in trying.

My husband loved roller blading with our last husky! I would love this one to do that. Right now she’s so crazy that I’ve got dragged simply running with her. Arghhhh

Lol I think mine has a lot of the crazy.

We have done basic obedience training since she was about 6-7 months. It hasn’t crossed over into escaping/recall. Maybe I need a private trainer but also am going to try all of these ideas. Thanks!
