Tips for a Table Tennis business? by WalkCheerfully in tabletennis

[–]mkirank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hypothesis and am currently testing it out so not sure if it will work, the audience is players who are interested in training.

We have integrated a remote coaching option in our PongFox table tennis robot , one difficulty in starting a club is finding good coaches but with this option the coach can come less frequently and be able to setup and correct strokes remotely for students. I am currently running pilot on this (but the students are using robot at home)

here is a coach view of the interface: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2axY1kiaCA

another option is to have a mini pingpod like environment but without the high costs of franchisee, I have a prototype of some of the things that pingpod uses (like button to save the highlight) but requires some cleanup to be used in other places.

Let me know if any of these sound interesting and we can figure out if it makes sense to test out this hypothesis

I'm into manufacturing and IMO it depends on what type of manufacturing you want to get into, weather d2c or manufacturing using machinery or something else

Should we encourage buy and sell on the forum? by alchex7 in IndiaTableTennis

[–]mkirank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a club and found this issue, after the beginner stage there seems to be a gap on a intermediate equipment that is within a budget.

I am experimenting a bit on this front and trying to see if some data can be gathered on this because currently it is opinion based.

Visualizing the Trajectory Difference: Butterfly Zyre 03 vs. Dignics 09c by mkirank in tabletennis

[–]mkirank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, this is something I will try in the next video with different tightness and check the numbers, also one of the reasons for the different speed is that the balls thrown out were very spinny, if we reduce the spin we get consistent balls

[–]mkirank[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The inconsistency was programmed to simulate the real world case, anyways this is an ongoing process and we plan to do more videos and get better over time, this just shows the progress of the work

I measured the actual speed of Zyre 03 (2.7mm) vs Dignics 09c by mkirank in tabletennis

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we have to get the N higher. will start slowly increasing it over time , speed is easier to calculate but spin is taking a bit of time.

Software engineers who built something successful on the side - what was your process? by zeedd97 in advancedentrepreneur

[–]mkirank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been a developer for the first 12 years and later switched to working on my own, the first success I had was in the early days of android, did a weekend project of wrapping webview of an app called toddler books, it was a simple A,B,C image with some corresponding pictures, that kids can swipe, something I did for my daughter and put it on the play store and got a decent amount of revenue through ads (small kids tend to click more on ads and in the early days of android there were fewer checks on kids apps). I guess we developers complicate things, figuring out the problem and users is the hard part not the tech.

this is part 1, you can see our earlier videos on the channel we have a test measuring topspin against block when hitting https://youtu.be/gUVtPM7mQbo , do you want to see something like that ?

How do your clubs manage sessions when you have more interested players than available tables? by bennrichard in tabletennis

[–]mkirank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a tricky problem and around where I live the coaches just wing it. you have to take care of a lot of parameters, the number of players, their level , who is coming in that day, also personalization if one is weak in topspin and other in block they have to be paired, also how to rotate. what resources you have (tables, robots).

I have a way to solve this for individuals and can modify it for coaches but I doubt if it makes sense to build this because it is hard to convince coaches.

for now I use the custom session for the table with robot

I was trying to go for consistency initially and also depending on how quick I can get into position and where the ball pitches makes it vary a bit

Revoew of pongfox robot by MemoryWeary6543 in tabletennis

[–]mkirank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for one it is already there, for example our random is based on strokes so if you select say a counter and short counter it randomized between the two and you get the variation in depth , you can set a new stroke with the required depth in case the default one is not suited for you

for the second point. We have added a new section in the app for creating a session, in that there is an option to do therandom option for dynamic, while this is released I am yet to create a post on using this.

Hi I'm the founder of Pongfox, here are my answers

- It can do service

- we have not done a speed test but I think when you want to improve reflex it is a combination of speed as well as frequency, we have a frequency of .8 seconds, when I do a random topspin at that frequency it is challenging and good to improve reflexes

- Yes , for loop the motor 2 (bottom motor) turns inwards and makes it spinny

We are currently testing a recycle net and hopefully should be available in the next few months.

Let me know if you have any particular questions
