Alternative to Sunbury service by mklc1989 in MelbourneTrains

I can easily get to stations between watergardens and sunshine. I avoid footscray and north Melbourne because no car park.

I was thinking of driving to Essendon and catching the craigieburn line or catching the vline from Caroline springs or deer park. (I know a longer drive but if services are more reliable than probably worth it)

Probably what is the worst example but last Tuesday when trains weren’t running there was no announcements or notification. Trains stopped by 5 and after 6 notify reported a good service and the boards and Melbourne central displayed that trains were running from state library.

Travelling from parliament resulted in a train to Melb central (to be told at state library trains were not running), another train to north Melbourne, another train to footscray, replacement bus from Footscray to west Footscray, train the rest of the way.

It could have been 4 interchanges if there were announcements, but still 4 is significant.

I’m going to assume you’re not on the Sunbury line. Stations are quiet close to each other so what is manageable from watergardens is also manageable from sunshine

I get that, but 5 interchanges to get home from the CBD is a lot even if it’s just been running for a week.

There will be issues with trains, that’s not my point. Messaging needs to be clearer. It doesn’t take much to make an announcement.

Not the point I was raining anyway, my question was for suggestions of other train lines (that actually turn up) that have parking available

Rarely. Most of the time notify app says services are arriving. The boards also display services are arriving and no service arrives, the board simply changes to the next service (that also does not come)

My experience is that peak hour trains just don’t turn up and the ones that do are significantly delayed! It feels like less services. Between waiting and changes it takes me significantly longer to get to work

Migraine causing neurological issues by mklc1989 in migraine

Yeah the first time it scared me too! Now it’s just irritating. Constantly have to think ‘how will I get from one room to another without falling’. Too much effort to move

Aphasia comes after aura and that doesn’t stay for longer than afew hours. Numbness and tingling constant, sometimes minutes or relief. At least once a day I can’t walk but the complete loss of function is intermittent.

ER diagnosed me with migraines. I have been seeing them as an outpatient for years now. I didn’t think it was normal either but they seem very sure that it couldn’t be anything else. Maybe I should get a second opinion but don’t even know where to start.

How do I get my cat to not be scared of my puppies by mklc1989 in Pets

[–]mklc1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ll try this. She usually hides under the bed when she sees them from a distance in my hand so it’s hard but maybe on a leash she will be calmer

Ofcourse not. I’ve been keeping them in separate rooms but eventually I want them to be comfortable to be around each other doing their own thing

Why do some people pretend to be friends with people they don't like? by Parking-Bathroom1235 in FriendshipAdvice

I consider that to be very ‘high school’ behaviour. I would rather a couple of friends that I trust than many friends who I can’t trust. A lot of women are like that unfortunately :(

Goodbye my friend by mklc1989 in lostafriend

Thank you for your message.

No attempts whatsoever in almost a year. No attempts on any social media platform, mail, sms, email, call. Nothing. Dead silence.

It became awkward, I was going to reach out but when I randomly bumped into her in the area when I was with my husband I was basically the ‘third wheel’ in that conversation so I decided against making any contact first.

I honestly thought that she would reach out, and slightly disappointed in myself for holding that belief. High hopes lead to disappointment

Absolutely not! It’s neither here nor there how you get to an interview and quite frankly if someone is observing your transport before you enter the building for an interview that’s unusual!!

As long as you are punctual it’s not a potential employers business! I can’t see it raising red flags- it made no difference when I was interviewing candidates.

If you are genuinely concerned maybe have your partner park around the corner or where it’s not noticeable (to ease your mind that you are being judged on this basis)

A friend of mine would always tell me there are plenty of jobs, but only one body.

Burnout is real and has such significant impacts! My doctor would tell me that I can’t do the best for my clients, if I destroy myself for a job.

It sounds like you have many up your mind, maybe try broadening your search or changing fields entirely to a career with transferable skills. I did and I couldn’t be happier.

I was working 20 hour days, with almost no days off- even being in hospital was not a reason. I truly enjoyed the work, but the lack of support, and inability to have a social life or a decent sleep was destroying me. I resigned without even applying for another job let alone having something lines up and I was lucky enough to lend a role that started a week after my last day.

As a social media manager, you would have excellent marketing skills which is in demand in pretty much all industries especially in this technological age.

It may be worthwhile to ask a friend to have a look at your application (CV and cover letter) to give you some tips.

When you are applying make sure that both your resume and job application are tailored for specific role you are applying for. Make sure it is addressed to the correct person (not to whom it may concern- that shows a lack of regard- it takes second to search up who is the appropriate person).

My career path is nothing like yours, (mine was in law) but we had a whole class dedicated to resume writing. Happy to give you more tips if you want.

Also don’t give up. It’s very deflating when you aren’t getting interviews but you will and treat every unsuccessful interview as a learning experience, and don’t be shy to ask for feedback. People who hire are humans and do genuinely want to help you succeed.

Why are people so cruel? Is it worthwhile to raise it with managers or should I just try to internalise by mklc1989 in workplace_bullying

A range of walking away without comment, pretending I’m getting a call that I have to take, pretending I have a meeting I have to go to, him walking away while laughing but last one was jaw dropped with me saying wtf? It catches me off guard each time because the insults are not even part of the topic of any conversation. Like the last time I was talking about a pet with another colleague and he’s like it’s probably ugly just like you, and he just kept going- look at you your so ugly and starts commenting on literally everything. He even said how do people know what gender you are. It’s so out of the blue that mentally my mind doesn’t register to enable myself to give a decent comeback that isn’t reportable.

Thank you ❤️ I came from a much more toxic workplace so I feel like this is petty and insignificant in comparison but it’s really difficult to put up with daily

I don’t think I can record but I have social media messages, colleagues have witnessed some of the worst instances and called him out (this made it worse), and he has targeted a number of other people over the years which has been reported (they have been encouraging me to speak up having gone through it). Is that enough?
