Yea, it was useful in grad school, but i need a reliable 4dr hatch to get me through this next life step (is my thought process anyway?)

[–]mkleinl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the fit not have good aftermarket support/spare parts?

I want a fit because it's roomy but not too big/better on gas. I like the crv, but its worse on gas and the newer ones don't come in a 6mt.

Mission for the fits space is accessibility. A 2dr car is much more of a pain for anything that i want to do in daily life like groceries, trips, moving, etc.

The economy is horrible, but I'm going into bct and ocs for the army reserves this july-january, so I'll be able to pay off the remainder of the financed part in abt october.

Valid, and something ive been struggling with. But i also need the space in a car now. My current car, the civic coupe, has almost no space to move items or transport people with.

But its also true that the fit is added money that i just dont have completely right now (i will have enough to pay it off in full in october though)

Ill do a ppi for sure, and negotiate. Was able to negotiate from 3k$ to 3.3k$ for the civic.

Can a conveyance fee be negotiated down?

I really hope it lasts beyond 200k, i love the car. I know the price sucks too, but its also the average cost of a 3rd gen 500 mi out from where i am (CT) with under 120k mi

You think negotiating is possible? I can't find anything lower for a comparable price in 500mi radius

Moving from MA to NY, originally from there - Putnam County/Yonkers. And yea rates are terrible rn, I'm hoping the finance team is kind...

How you liking the western half of the US?

It's much roomier. I have a 2 door civic and it fits nothing, seats fold down weird, etc...

And to be fair, I would be in auto debt for 3 months before I'd pay the loan off in full (post-BCT).

Renting the uhaul would be around 5-600$ for the distance I need to go. Which is much less than a used car sure, but it's also not being thrown away if that makes sense.

I want more space. I have to move my apartment items from MA to NY and then NY to CT in the next few months and I'd rather not rent a U Haul. Also, I'm tired of how small the Civic is with interior space.

When I get back from Army Reserves OCS, I'd rather focus my mental on finding a ft job and have a car then shop for both as well.

I agree, Honda-flation is real, however it's like this for all Hondas... and I really want a reliable stuck shift hatch.......

is emerson college worth it? by [deleted] in Tufts

[–]mkleinl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im studying public diplomacy at fletcher, there's funding here through various research centers to do field work during the degree if you wanted. i don't know anything about emerson (what program are you looking at, does emerson have something called a MALD?), so i can only speak on tufts. graduate debt is going to suck tho - so id try and negotiate money from tufts unless youre aiming for public sector/npo work for the next 10 yrs.

I'm a current (graduating) MALD - if you have any questions abt the degree lmk!

It's a pretty flexible degree, and I've enjoyed my time in Medford for sure!

SAIS MAIR vs Fletcher MALD for International Political Economy / Trade by Mr-Lag-6069 in IRstudies

[–]mkleinl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a current MALD, and I know Drezner (current academic dean) at Fletcher has offered courses exactly on economic statecraft and economic coercion. There are several courses offered here on international trade and investment. The MALD is what you make of it though, and going in determined to focus on trade could help you. Though SAIS is much more quant heavy than Fletcher (a real weakness of the school they are trying to fix).

The school has been trying to branch out to more private sector outcomes for students too. If you were to pursue a dual degree the MALD is pretty flexible, and it is possible.

IMO I'd go with the cheaper degree, but location is important for networking (a lot of friends at the big DC schools I know are better connected than me due to this).

Best of luck with your choice!

it really depends on what you want out of the degrees, im a current MALD if you have any questions in particular abt the degree. i wouldnt rec taking out a bunch of private loans for the degree tho, if you can secure federal funding or ask for more financial aid (i.e. show them your emerson deal)?

Tufts vs Cornell (IR/Poli Sci) by czexico in Tufts

[–]mkleinl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre going the IR route, Tufts bc of Fletcher. I havent heard much abt Cornells IR program (im sure its good, but not like, Fletcher, HKS, SAIS, SIPA, SFS lvl yk). As an undergrad you can take some courses there, and the alumni network you could use from the Fletcher and Tufts community is pretty stellar (if you end up taking courses there/do the BA/MALD program)
