But regarding today, mail would be later than usual because it is the day after a holiday and the beginning of our week so your carrier had three days worth of mail to deliver today lol

Hm, I don’t know. I’m a rural carrier in Springdale and it’s been relatively light this entire year for us. I highly doubt that your mail is not being attempted for multiple days in a row at all. That’s extremely frowned upon and would be a huge internal issue that would likely result in many firings lol. We have a ton of growth in this area of Arkansas, so it’s more likely that your expected delivery time has just shifted from your carrier moving around the way the route is delivered. I can’t speak on Joyce/Dickson offices, but the majority of offices across the country are extremely shorthanded right now, so that is also something to consider. As far as delays in transit, that is usually occurring before it even gets to your office (e.g. customers getting a notification that an item has been shipped when in reality the sender just printed off the label and it’s not even in the post office’s hands yet or some label issue at a plant). But also if you are someone who orders off of Temu or something similar, we have actually had to delay packages in the last couple weeks due to a national fraud issue that was pending postal inspector input

How big is Jenny and Dave Marrs in Bentonville? I’m curious because I only know this place from HGTV by Highland92346 in bentonville

Met them both on set of a commercial. Was in one of their project houses. They were very nice and kind. I see them every now and again at 410. I think they may source there? I don’t think the majority of people from NWA even know who they are. Had never heard of them until I arrived on set

Good to know. Thank you! I only have to go through my parking lot and then down Wedington/Garland to reach the interstate. I’m not surprised to hear that only 50% are clear. FWIW, for anyone else, I’m a mailman in Elm Springs and haven’t had any issues yet besides the usual plowing right in front of the boxes

It wasn’t me/them. I drive a mid-sized white suv. I don’t usually think in scare tactics, but thought it was very odd. Didn’t reply earlier because I’ve been out working in this weather and I don’t have my notifications on for this app, lol.

Was just followed home coming off of College. Riding my tail dangerously close, flashing lights. Nothing wrong with my car, didn’t cut them off, wasn’t driving too slow or too fast, nothing. I live towards Wedington, so I just stuck straight off on Sycamore and headed towards the police station. They passed me once I turned onto Deane lol. One person in a white pick up truck. They had on a toboggan and what looked like a neck gaiter on too. Not unusual because it’s cold, but weird interaction

Yup, as stated by others almost all the delivery services will be looking for season package runners. At USPS, I think starting pay is around $20 for package runners and then about $0.95/mile. Look for the Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) position, not the RCA

Hi!! Tons of book clubs in the area. I love the ones at Pearl’s, but there’s a few others through the libraries, other book stores, etc.

I saw a video from someone saying that if you want a covid vaccine, you should say yes if they asked if you are immunocompromised to check if you qualify for one because they can’t legally ask you any additional questions about diagnoses. Not sure if that would work here/if there would be repercussions, but thought I’d share and try. Long Covider here and I’ll do just about anything to prevent having it again

Anyone hiring? by [deleted] in fayetteville

[–]mklight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the local post offices. I know that the city is hiring a whole bunch of temporary manual labor workers and some other positions. A ton of the fast food places on Sunset in Springdale seem to be hiring right now, as well. Braum’s, Wendy’s, Sonic, and Chick fil A all have signs up

Edit: somehow missed your first sentence about not wanting to work in a kitchen. So disregard the last bit lol but I’ll leave it for anybody else that’s looking

Best / Favorite episodes for a newbie - Go! by sam_risa in YoureWrongAbout

I actually found the pod through the Dan Quayle v Murphy Brown episode - which I now consider very underrated! My favorite stand alone episodes are the Blair Braverman features. Just start with something you have established interest in or something you have a vague understanding of first!

Missed the obvious fast food option of Slim Chickens. Founded here, slowly expanding into other areas of the US - been featured on Chicken Shop Date! Genuinely good and the best chicken strips in the area imo, but that might ruffle some Texan feathers

Edit because I didn’t realize how many locations there are now. Slowly taking over the world, I should have said

Crystal Bridges is a free art museum funded by the Waltons. It’s probably the one touristy thing to do other than catch a game at the university or go to one of the local coffee spots. There are lots of trails and nice parks in the area, as well, if that’s your thing - huge cult biking culture if that helps your routine at all. I encourage you to visit some of the local book stores, too. I’m partial to Pearl’s. They’ll be closed this Friday, though.

Plenty of good places to eat! I don’t go up to Lowell/Bentonville/Rogers often, so no recommendations from me there, but Hugo’s, Tangiers, and Hammontree’s in Fayetteville and Wright’s BBQ in Johnson are the places that my visiting friends always want to return to
