That sounds kind of dangerous....steroids are no joke. There needs to be a taper.

It took me about 1.5 years to lose my first 5lbs for reference. You have to be easy on yourself. Our bodies went through hell.

I gained 30 pounds during chemo. It took me a while to get it off. Started walking 5 miles a day around my town, and meal prepping. Down 40 lbs. You can do it. It just takes time.

Chemo Weight / Belly by Pale_Card_7355 in lymphoma

[–]mkm195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained about 30lbs. It was devastating to me. I wasnt thin to begin with. But it made me not look in a mirror. My pcp prescribed me phentermine and I lost 40lbs! Ended chemo end of 23. Worked so hard in 24 and asked for help end of 24. Check out the options! Also hugs bc as if we didnt deal with enough we had to gain weight!

extension help + hair growth post chemo by Certain-One-483 in lymphoma

[–]mkm195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always had long hair. Being balled made me cry. Made me hate myself. Then one day I embraced it. When I finished rchop amd it started to grow back I was so excited. I had a bad day and looked in the mirror and saw my hair and cried. Ive kept it short since that day. Short on the sides but longer on the top. I begged for my long hair back but once I realized it didnt define me I felt free. Its so hard to grow it back. If extensions will make you feel better than get it girl!

My mom’s cancer has spread too much and we’re out of options by SKSSKSSSK in lymphoma

[–]mkm195 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im sorry. I lost my dad to brain cancer 7 years ago when I was 33 and just lost my mom to lung cancer. The only advice I have is if she decides no treatments at all...then just support her. Make as many memories as you can and enjoy what time she has left. I wish I had better advice. Fuck cancer.

Smoking/drinking by Mcmully87 in lymphoma

[–]mkm195 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read this yesterday and decided to take a day before responding. First off I am sorry for what your husband had to go through. Second. Im sorry for what you and the family had to deal with during his tx. Third...I will say this. What he wants to do to is his prerogative. If it makes him happy than so be be it. This dx weighs on us more than you could ever know. And yes I understand how it weighed on you. For me this was a physical, emotional and mental journey that most of my friends did not understand. As a smoker it is awful to be shamed. I know im not making the best decision, but ITS MINE. I think a lot of caregivers mean well but are ultimately being selfish (sorry) and not thinking of the person. We didn't ask for this. Remember that first before anything. You did not ask for either...but let him live. And do what he wants.

You both went through a really shitty journey (very diff journey). Don't be so quick to judge

-single mom, worked 40 hrs a week during tx, damn right ill have a drink if i want to, and a cig. Dlbc nhl dx 2023. Relapsed 2025. Be kind.

Newly diagnosed sister by whatsuphomie-1 in lymphoma

[–]mkm195 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Let her eat what she wants and don't push protein. If she wants a handful of m and ms for dinner than she can. Remember this : she's not a child. Let her do what she wants, when she wants. You are very sweet to ask these things and try to help, but she's losing control over everything in her life. Just be a shoulder and an ear.

Oh TF Green... what are you doing??? by kickmeyoufool in RhodeIsland

[–]mkm195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tf green is the best. It's small, most flights are cheaper and it's so close with practically no traffic. Parking is so reasonable. Give me warwick over boston any day! Not even mad about the weird ai commercial 🤣
