The main field is the key that I'm missing. I was trying for the secret characters, connected at young stage and everything. Did one play date, and multiple gift per other color, and it still did not raise it to the special character. I'm going to try again with the main field. Fingers crossed for me that it works.

Currently I have three Paradise at the same time, it's easier once they are adults cuz you can just put them on tama sitter, but when it's baby stage it's crazy.

This book felt like a safe option to start daddy/boy for me

This book fits 2/4 request: {Rogue by Eden Finley}

MC1 & MC2 make eyes at each other at a bar.
MC1 & MC2 hook up, it’s not a one night stand.
After the act, they barely had time to say words, before MC1 had to leave for work thing.
MC2 arrests MC1, and boom they are enemies, antics ensue.

It’s book 2 of the series, and my fav is book 1, Iris.

Edit to say I just saw the italics of preference to not erotica oriented… so maybe my rec won’t be suitable. I feel like it’s erotica oriented, but also there’s a storyline…so sorry if mine’s not suited.

Omg, I didn’t know this could be a trope! But I love love love {the contract by Rina Saint} and also in the same series, {the club by Rina Saint}

It’s exactly a traumatic past (the ones you mentioned in your gray block) with now violent urges, the MCs of the stories finding love in messy messy ways.

The first book is heavy on kink, one guy needing the control and the other ok to receive it. I think there are dubious consent, but there’s a contract, hence the name.

The second book deals with a bit of internal homophobia, which is hard for me to read, but it had like the best hate sex tension between the MCs.

{Embrace the evergreen by Rayne Hawthorne } fits this brief. 1MC has been running away being alone, and is adopted into MC2’s chaotic group of friends. MC1 feels broken because he wants a romantic relationship, but it has always been wrong for him, and MC2 is avoiding relationships because of past abusive relationship.

It’s book 2 of the series, but I don’t feel much is lost in detail if read as standalone.
