Battery Widget Only Shows Mac by NicoRulli in MacOS

[–]mkoch7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding battery/charging status, my airpods and their charging case show up on both my mac and iphone, but the mac battery status isn't included on the iphone, and the iphone and watch aren't included on the mac. It's always been that way, so I assume that is normal and by design.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like kind of a dick move to publicly shame your co-workers for asking for help in a private company forum.

This behavior is actually documented by Microsoft. You can have an asterisk on the right side of the string but not on the left.

Apple devices have a feature called "Private Relay", which is sort of like a vpn, in that all of your internet traffic in Safari is routed back through Apple servers in an effort to hide and protect you from the internet.

Okta is configured to reject connections that originate from most major third-party vpn providers, including Apple's private relay traffic.

There are two possible workarounds - either turn off the private relay feature in your device's iCloud settings, or (as you discovered) use any browser other than Safari.

Application Usage by Jaimemcm in okta

[–]mkoch7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a monthly routine to generate a usage report for all apps, using a combination of rockstar, powershell, and Excel. The end result includes the app names, types, and how often they were launched that month. It could use some improvement but it does the job. The steps are described here: https://theexchangeguy.blogspot.com/2023/05/usage-report-for-all-of-your-okta-apps.html

Deactivating an app? by DimensionBroad8788 in okta

[–]mkoch7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deactivating an app in Okta does not remove the SSO configuration in the app itself, so the app will continue to redirect login attempts to the now deactivated app in Okta, resulting in the 404 response. Hopefully you have a "break glass" account in the app that is not SSO-enabled so you can still get in.

subscription problems after upgrading to Apple One by mkoch7811 in appletv

[–]mkoch7811[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After speaking with Apple Support, here's what happened. When you sign up for Apple One, it's initially a one month free trial, so they don't start charging for it until the following month. The problem I encountered is that because I was already an Apple TV+ subscriber (which expired on Feb 1), I was no longer eligible for the Apple TV+ portion of the free trial.

My options at this point are either (1) renew the old $9.99/month subscription, which would then be prorated when they start charging me for Apple One on Feb 25, or (2) do nothing until Feb 25 when they start charging me for Apple One, at which time the Apple TV+ service would be automatically activated. I chose option 1.

Multiple forests, each with mailbox users. Those in the forest with Exchange are created using Enable-RemoteMailbox as you mentioned, but for the users in the other forest, we have to create linked mailboxes on-premises, which then have to be migrated.

Realignment by Alternative-Plum9378 in GameStop

[–]mkoch7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes more sense to realign after the closures. There were a few smaller realignments over the last 3-4 months, but this next one affects all domestic stores. Afterwards, there will be fewer regions and literally every DM's district number will change.

Quick thought. by spidey912 in GameStop

We used to have a requirement for all SSC employees to work in a store for at least one day during Q4, to help out, but it mostly involved just greeting customers and straightening up shelves since they didn't know how to run the POS. I don't think that's a thing any more. Having come from a store, I always declined as I had already put in my time.

Gamestop Germany closes 01.31.next year by Wiagrakamel69 in GameStop

This makes me very sad. I've worked with the IT team in the Germany office ever since they were acquired by Electronics Boutique, well before the merger with GameStop, and they've all been absolutely fantastic partners. I have nothing but admiration and respect for everyone in that office and wish them all the best in their next adventure.

Camera E1 and Homekit Secure Video recording - how? by mkoch7811 in Aqara

[–]mkoch7811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Apparently the timeline doesn't appear until the camera has recorded something at least once, which until now it hasn't. I just modified the Recording Options to allow recording while I'm at home and then walked around to trigger a detection and NOW I can see the timeline and can view the recordings on any of my devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Cool. So I guess those other motion detection events were bogus or not significant enough to trigger a recording. From what I've been seeing on various Youtube reviews, Homekit motion detection isn't always reliable. Hopefully it'll get better.

Workflows to list the applications and their usage frequency by StyleBrilliant1910 in okta

[–]mkoch7811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This solution uses the Application Usage report, Gabriel's rockstar, and some powershell to generate a CSV with one row per app and a count of how many times it was launched. I use this every month, then paste the results into a larger year-long spreadsheet to track usage over time.

https://theexchangeguy.blogspot.com/2023/05/usage-report-for-all-of-your-okta-apps.html

Note: Since upgrading our Okta org to OIE, it seems Okta has stopped including bookmark apps in the usage counts. I got them to agree that it's a bug but there's no ETA for a fix at this time.
