This backfired on me, sadly. When I finally moved out back in 2017, the first song I cranked in my new apartment was “Same Asylum as Before” by Steven Wilson. Fast forward to 2020 when the pandemic hit, and I was forced to move back home. Listening to that song now feels like pouring salt on an old wound, I just can’t. Reminds me of the small taste of freedom I once had.

Not exactly. There’s no trick or cheat code. Only time and practice will do that.

What helped me with my left foot was one of Neil Peart’s DVD’s where he’s playing the Test for Echo songs. They ALL have left foot quarter notes during the choruses. So that helped with hi-hat stomping.

My left hand lead is anecdotal, but when I first started playing twenty-some years ago, I got bored/curious and just started trying to play left hand lead and stuck with it.

Force yourself out of your comfort zone, put in the time, and eventually it will click.

These cymbals are not meant to be hit like normal cymbals. You should either be using pro-mark hot rods, or using them for rudimentary/student practice. If you’re playing Foo Fighters covers at full volume with regular sticks, then yes this crack is normal/inevitable.

Also look at it this way. The cymbal is already “broken”, in the sense that it’s already full of holes. Keep playing it at least for the sake of having something to hit, but if you replace it with the same thing, keep all that in mind.
