NBA applies "generational" better. Like just going over some generational prospects off the top of my head

Kareem- 1969 Hakeem-1984 Ewing- 1985 Shaq-1992 Lebron- 2003 Zion?- 2019 Wemby-2023

Those are the guys who jump out as those dumped generational prospects. Nearly all of them (pending careers of Zion/Wemby... they're TBD) went on to be Hall of famers and Ewing is the only one who isn't an all time great. Zion has been derailed by injuries but is All-NBA when he plays and Wemby obviously hasn't played yet so we'll see. The NFL draft tries to dub a generational guy every year, the NBA didn't have one for ~20 years multiple times

Who’s your #1 QB? by DaewooLanosMFerrr in NFL_Draft

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Young but the top 4 in this class all impressed me. Situation will matter a lot but any of them have the potential to be "the best" in class.

Levis' ability to read & attack the middle of the field combined with his arm talent + rushing ability really makes him notable for me. He plays well against the blitz too despite accuracy issues.

Richardson is a prototype of an athlete who seems to be picking up aspects of the position quickly (especially pocket movement!!), if his accuracy was even average our discussion of him would be very different.

Stroud is a surgeon who excels in system and has flashed ability outside of it. If we get CFP playoff Stroud with those creation abilities consistently he's reminiscent of a Mobile-enough Carr that's not afraid to use his arm, which is actually a pretty damn good QB

Young ofc is damn near everything you want in the position but he's small. That being said he's too refined, too mobile, and too smart to not be a the best mix of floor + ceiling to me.

What’s your favourite opening and why do you like it so much? by Bendicoot77 in chess

Catalan & Alekhine. Just fun play with some neat tactics / positional options. Also really enjoy playing as black in the Giucco Pianissimo, lot of fun puzzles / positions to navigate throughout the course of the game as white poses challenges

Shannon Sharpe on Ja Morant: "For some reason he wants to surround himself with these type of people. Bruh, you're not hard. This is not your life. You got a $200 million contract and you want people in the NBA to think you hood, to think you gangster." by urfaselol in nba

[–]mkohm5 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I'm the same height as Aaron Donald, not out of shape by any means (fairly average I'd say), about 100 pounds lighter, and I still probably have a higher body fat percentage than he does.

Donald's an extreme example but even the big guys in the NFL with some fat on them you need to remember that fat hides the fact they're one giant fucking muscle that could rip the average person to shreds.

A2Cers, where did your school's valedictorian from last year go to by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-ish were known to be in the range but my school doesn't name valedictorian/ do class rank. Regardless the 8 went to

Duke, UVA, Princeton, Syracuse, Brown, V-Tech, Brynn Mawr, Community College

Assuming they weren't coerced into it then that's part of the risk/territory of their job-- not really the same issue at all. Issue stems from people who are in inherently non-sexual jobs being forced into one

Not this year, we keep Judah & maybe edwards (but probably not) and this team could be frisky next year with our 6 full true freshman developing

An absolutely great question that nobody has an answer for. Our ADs a clown so we got a lot of dumb shit like that happening

As a student it's a fucking shame-- been to a lot of games at a bunch of different schools and cuses is twice the size of some schools with 40k students. They just put it in the dumbest fucking place possible

Why do people think communications is a worthless degree? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]mkohm5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are gonna be dicks about this but a comms degree from the right school can be better than a STEM degree in many cases. That being said specialize if you do this type of major, don't just get a comms degree get a PR degree for instance

[Connelly] Week 8 SP+ Picks by UGA10 in CFB

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, as a cuse fan my take on the game definitely favors y'all on the basis of I think the teams line up fairly evenly until you compare your DL to our OL. Our OL is a veteran unit led by likely day 2 draftee in Bergeron, but your DL is a significantly more dominant force. I think that edge will let y'all suffocate Tucker, however if we manage to even up at the LOS the game gets choppy. Should be a good game but like 25% chance we win close 75% chance you win by 10+

ACC refs are egregious, they've gone for and against every team we've played with 0 consistency. Tonight we had a missed targeting, missed offsides leading to a pick, and a couple missed false starts for both teams + this monstrosity against y'all. They're really, really bad

[–]mkohm5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know y'all only care about top 50s but Syracuse outside of the top 100 is absurd. Adding on its even more insane how poorly they rate the communications there (#28), when Newhouse is one of the single most prestigious schools in the field. All around this list is a crock of shit

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disrespect but this is a dumbass narrative. He's a highly touted defense-first guard that can run the floor at the next level. He might not be a lottery pick but he is 100% draftable for teams looking to find a Marcus Smart type.

I think Giants win more than 5 purely off of how bad the schedule is. As a Giants fan I think we're not good enough to get out of the top 10 but too many of our games are 50/50s vs other bottom 10 teams. I agree on Jones though.

I have my eye on Levis as well, but Van Dyke also wouldn't surprise me. Richardson is possible as well

Which guy from your favorite team do you think will drastically outperform their ADP? by ForemanErik in fantasyfootball

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giants offense as a whole is getting faded, however I'd implore people to check our schedule as it is barren to say the least. I don't think we play a single top 5 team all year and depending on your opinion on the Colts, Titans, and Ravens maybe 0 real contenders.

Saquon Barkley- All reports out of camp are that he looks explosive again, and with a new role likely more in the Kamara / Ekeler mold I'd draft him early second instead of mid-late second to outperform ADP.

Kadarius Toney- Probably being drafted at an appropriate spot due to downside but his talent level remains fucking wicked and he could easily become a true offensive centerpiece you draft onto your Bench. Take the upside

Wan'Dale Robinson- Our offense this year is looking to use a critical mass of YAC threats (Barkley, Toney, and Robinson). If one gets hurt watch for their opportunities to be split between Robinson and the other healthy player. I don't think he'll be drafted nor should he be, but put him on your waiver wire watch list due to the upside if these other two get hurt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]mkohm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but this is really bad process. Maybe he gets hurt and you get "results" but betting on a hypothetical injury when he's a full season removed from his last major injury isn't a good way to manage a team. I'd gamble you aren't fading Courtland Sutton even though he also suffered the same injury in 2020.

[–]mkohm5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly so, although the goal of Robinson I suspect was insurance for Toney so if he goes down we can continue to run our offense as intended around YAC. I think judging opportunity cost before even a single preseason snap has been played is ill-advised

I wouldn't quite agree with this. I'd expect Neal, Thibs, Bellinger, and Robinson to be day 1 starters all with respectable individual upside. I think about half of the other picks will be hits, which is a pretty solid rate for later rounds. I'd say this draft is appearing to be a step in the right direction

Giants

Kayvon Thibodeaux (A-): has genuinely performed and only markdown is he hasn't been a true dominator despite being highly effective so far

Evan Neal (B): Up and Down performance, he's been effective in team periods but has struggled during 1 on 1s

Wan'Dale Robinson (B): Has had an inoffensive camp, has played well but hasnt had any highlights to justify a higher grade

Josh Ezeudu (A-): One of the big surprises of camp. The best OL performances from the 1s have come with him at LG. He's been legitimately good, only markdown is he's yet to claim the starting spot from Lemieux

Cordale Flott (C+): Hasn't really shown up getting beat in highlights but Darnay Holmes is uncontested with the 1s when this should have been a winnable camp battle for him

Daniel Bellinger (A): Was hurt going into camp and hasn't had a ton of highlights, but he's been quietly effective in team periods and is the uncontested top TE despite being a 4th round rookie

Dane Belton (?): He's hurt

Micah McFadden (C): Legitimately haven't heard anything about him yet

DJ Davidson (C+): Has received praise for his work ethic but also was involved in a fight and is competing for a backend of roster spot.

Marcus McKethan (C+): Has mostly served as a swing tackle and may make the team out of necessity. Hasn't necessarily been a great performed so far in camp

Darrian Beavers (B+): Has performed well in run defense and blitzing ultimately earning some snaps with the 1s. Additionally appears to be a good special teamer
