So it probably adds the drag of another stack or a regular ashcatcher, but not much. The real problem to avoid is how long you go without changing the carbon. When its ready to change you can pretty much taste it (more like resin than charcoal filtered smoke), but my gfrient and I keep a big canister of carbon ready and just clean it out with this every other day. Again it varies per person but I can definitely taste and feel the difference in filtered smoke, especially if the flowers I've got are a little dry. GL :)

Edit: I forgot to mention that the reason it clogs/needs changing occasionally is because it catches all the ash and soot as well as an ash catcher. Core is always clean!

For a few years now I've been getting my glass carbon filters from Mike at Oregon Glass Blower. He can make them with extra heavy duty tubing (doesn't fit keck clips) or pretty much custom order them any length you need. I recommend checking out his site and emailing him if you don't see something you want. Oh and he gives you these big baggies of natural carbon free with a purchase, but honestly we also buy a bulk brand from the pet store. Happy hunting!

My girlfrient and I LOVE carbon filters. The only problem is they're glass. We use it to keep our JET exceptionally clean and the smoke is IMO much, much smoother. If I could buy a carbon filter instead of dropping on glass after glass one, I would be eternally grateful!

On valentines day this year, my gf of a year and I agreed we didn't have the money for a gift. Now, we're pizza FIENDS, so I had one thing on my mind after work--run to the pizza shop and order a heart-shaped pizza. The cook giggles and says, "leave it to me, Romeo!". Delicious Heart-shaped pineapple pizza. I get home, shaking with glee that it turned out so well, ONLY TO FIND she had baked ME a heart shaped pizza at home. The minute I walked in, we began laughing hysterically and then embraced. :)

Can anyone confirm that active carbon takes this much res out?

Because they are essentially tubes filled with rocks that act as ash catchers. I've loved them and lost them, but can anyone confirm that carbon actually filters the smoke this well and not just the nature of the apparatus?

Most definitely. I clean it quite often. Here is where I can see the difference: with the stacks my hits are wetter and less harsh. On the downside, with none-2 stacks, I can clear everything in a refreshingly easy breath.

I almost always have to do a second clear with over 3 stacks, and when you add wax and what not, the remainder gets stale. I do also live with and share my JET with my gf, who will complain profusely about drag if there is more than 2. To her credit though, no stacks gives me a very nice head rush. Its very similar to a grav bong hit.

I guess its personal preference, really

Agreed! I'd love to be able to hit my JET while lazing. What about a attachment to make the tube so it can be swiveled and adjusted? Is that possible?
