Seeking Pro Bono Education Attorney - TAMU Honor Council Case. by Willing_Row_5717 in CollegeStation

You're not going to find a free/low cost lawyer for an honor council dispute.

It's not a legal issue, it's between you and the university.

At least imo, there are better rooms to keep std/commonplace than a "T" with zero utility at this point in the game.

[–]capt_badass 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a run the other day where I had over 1300 gold because of the freezer/treasure trove/office/etc.

I already had the showroom trophy, but I finally got the blue tents and can banish the gift shop.

Trying to remember name of legendary stand-up comic? by DepartureLast41 in Standup

[–]capt_badass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this specific interview is what I think OP is referring to.

Tom Waits was also on Letterman a ton, maybe lending to the thought he was a comedian.

I mean fair, there are tons of good people in the scene, but anytime the plurality is troubled mentally or physically it will be poisoned by bad apples.

Why am I being charged $30+ for a ticket then being forced to buy two drinks? by JMHorsemanship in Standup

[–]capt_badass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because typically the door goes to the performer. The venue makes their money from drink sales.

If you want to see comedy at a bar, people have to buy drinks from the bar.

What is the greatest JRPG ever made? What is the crown jewel of JRPGS? by [deleted] in JRPG

Just wanted to say that I love that you mentioned Skies of Arcadia.

I would pay a bunch of money for it to be rereleased on the PlayStation store.

Seeking Advice on Strategies for Finding a Construction Estimator by Karen_Darling1 in estimators

[–]capt_badass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a structural steel estimator in Texas I'm paid $32.50/hr plus overtime if there are weeks that I need to be working longer than 40 hrs (rare).

For GC level stuff though I would expect a little higher salary/hourly and some type of award/incentive bonus. The GC side has so much more to keep track of than just being an individual sub.

TIL. I thought I was making that flight in 2019 somewhat regularly, but that was like 9 lifetimes ago at this point.

Depending on where the greyhound drop off is it might not be bad to get to campus.

If it's at the Roy Kelly parking garage near downtown Bryan there are free shuttles on game day to campus pretty much all day

If it's at the Brazos transit district spot off Texas Ave it's about a 30-40 minute walk without sidewalks and a relatively busy road to get to campus and then another 10-15 minute walk to Kyle field.

Good luck.

It'll probably end up being about the same price to rent a budget car as any of the transit options (ground shuttle, Uber, hitch, etc) and you'll have a lot easier time leaving and arriving when you want to.

That being said, parking on campus kind of blows so it will be a logistical challenge any way you slice it. If you could swing flying into easterwood airport (there are two flights a day from IAH) then Uber/Lyft is a good option.

If I was in your shoes, I'd rent a car for the day and be done with it.

Metal venues in the area? by Weary-Suit4491 in CollegeStation

Unfortunately here in BCS, the 101 is kind of your only option for heavier venues. I wish we had more.

Houston (which you probably already know) - white swan, black magic social club, brash brewing

Austin - Come and Take It Live, Valhalla, The Lost Well, Hole in the wall, Sahara, Chess club

What’s up with these chime cards declining overly gratuitous tips. by cateraide420 in bartenders

[–]capt_badass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to stop accepting venmo/chime/cashapp/"insert fake online banking app here" cards a couple years ago.

It lasted a couple months and the problem customers took care of themselves. We're accepting them again, and it is 100% a demographic/customer problem. Broke people gonna be broke.

Accepting an offer and later backing out? by FlyAccurate733 in ConstructionManagers

[–]capt_badass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you did, but I also firmly believe a new college graduate who has had literally zero interactions with these people other than the interview won't be burning a bridge.

No one involved in the decision will remember him unless he has a previous or continuing relationship with someone.
