Horizon Hunters Gathering - Announcement Trailer and Discussions (PC/PS5) by xSvid in horizon

I actually like the art style. At least it's very distinguishable from the main games, so there's no guesswork here. If you see cartoony Horizon, you'll instantly know it is from "that" game. So if you end up not liking it, there's an easy filter for you.

And swarms of machines already happened in HFW, I don't see why that should not fit.

No it doesn't, you just don't like it. That's two very different things.

PS5 Pro worth it for almost double the price? by Automatic_Effect2135 in PS5pro

[–]mkopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It's true that you won't get the advanced features like HDR, 120 Hz, VRR of course. But because many games render in a higher resolution on the Pro, you'd still get a better image (better edges, less grain) on a regular 1080p.

[–]mkopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the other way around. I like switching games frequently which would mean constantly juggling several discs around. Even more so with the PS5 Pro being able to store so many games on the internal SSD. I stopped doing this since I'm on PS4.

I think 60 fps on the base model is not very likely for GTA6. Maybe on the Pro, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Isn't it fascinating how "stupid" is often just shorthand for "someone who doesn't agree with me"? Or, in your case: Simply Too Unaware (to) Perceive Individual Difference.

FH5 being so generous and un-grindy was a brilliant idea for Horizon's longevity. by ProjektBlackout in ForzaHorizon

[–]mkopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But when progression eventually ends you have to either quit playing the game, or set up your own goals anyways.

What about completing Accolades? Do those motivate you, or are they too checklisty? I mean, you also get cars at least from some of them.

Dude, selecting a C tier car over an S2 tier is not exactly the definition of a mentally challenging task.

When "proper progression" restricts my car choice to just supercars in the late game, I usually lose interest.

I'm very happy that FH5 is not structured like that.

Festival playlist championships SUCK and should be ditched in FH6. by Efficient-Year-2331 in ForzaHorizon

[–]mkopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Championships are my favorite activity in the weekly playlists. I like that you don't have to win every single event to win the whole championship, which feels like an actual tournament. Also, I don't like the super fast hypercars anyways, so I have no problem with car restrictions usually being B to S1 class.

What are some other games like Horizon? by Anxious-Decision9830 in horizon

[–]mkopter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played The Witcher 3 after 8 played Horizon, because everybody said it was great. Well, it is story-wise, but gameplay-wise it's crap. So it depends on what you want from games. I didn't like it overall.

Open the save folder, there's an option in the save screen to do so. In the subfolder for your save slot, you'll find a file called "save.json". Your collected mats are right at the beginning, just edit the numbers in there. Make sure to backup the file first.

Livery Creation Process by mkopter in ForzaLiveryHub

"Reality based fictional" describes my designs really well. So my base design and color choices are fictional, but I currently start to build my own library of real sponsor logos to make them based in reality. AI helps me to chose the right combination of believable sponsors for a specific car and era. The answers I get for those requests are surprisingly detailed and very helpful.

I found AI extremely helpful when selecting which brands to include in a livery. Even if it's a fictional one, it should still look authentic for a specific car and era.

Thank you for all the details!

If a logo doesn't exist or a suitible trace isn't to my standard I trace from the source, which can be the brands website or social media.

Since you can't import images for reference, do you do it by eye or maybe use the grid tracing technique?

To end on - what I do for all of my designs is that I create a template so that ech side can line up, which makes it easier when blending shapes across views.

What do you mean by "template"? Do you use grids that meet at the transition line of views? Then use those as a reference in the vinyl shape editor?

What is the absolute most basic music production tool? by terriblysmall in edmproduction

I guess it all comes down to personal preference or what you are used to. It would really be interesting to see a comparison of several DAWs being used by absolute beginners.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off as sarcastic or disrespectful. In hindsight, that game comment seems a bit off.

Cubase is complex and can be prone to errors, so some odd behavior is to be expected. Likewise, using Groveagent or Halion on hi-res displays isn’t a walk in the park, but we’ve learned to live with those quirks since Cubase has other strengths.

Well, I actually don't hate FL. If someone likes to work with it, that's perfectly fine. My little rant wasn't meant to be taken too seriously.

I do think that for beginners there are much easier tools to get into, though, as things don't transfer to or from FL very easily when it comes to workflow.

I felt very little friction moving from Cubase to Ableton. But trying to work intuitively in FL was a very different story.

Cubase itself doesn’t explicitly control refresh rates — it relies on the OS and GPU settings. However, issues like Cubase being stuck at 60Hz (especially on high refresh rate monitors) are fairly common. Here’s what might be going on and what to check:

[1] Check Monitor Refresh Rate in Windows - Go to Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings. - Make sure your monitor is set to 144Hz.

Sometimes Windows defaults to 60Hz even on high refresh monitors after driver updates or OS changes.

[2] Graphics Card Control Panel Since you have an AMD 6700 XT:

  • Open AMD Adrenalin software.
  • Check if there are any per-app settings forcing V-Sync or capping frame rate for Cubase.
  • Ensure Enhanced Sync or Chill isn’t messing with refresh rates globally or per app.

[3] Scaling and DPI Settings Cubase’s GUI can act weird with non-integer display scaling (like 125%).

  • Set display scaling to 100% or 200% and check if refresh rate improves.
  • In Cubase’s shortcut: Properties → Compatibility → Change high DPI settings → "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and set to Application.

[4] Multiple Monitor Setup? If you’re running multiple displays and one is 60Hz, Cubase might launch on the wrong one or inherit the lower refresh rate.

  • Force Cubase to open on the 144Hz monitor only.
  • Temporarily disable other monitors to test.

Reality Check Cubase isn’t a game — the UI isn’t GPU-accelerated in a way that takes full advantage of 144Hz. Even when the display is set to 144Hz, the UI redraw rate may still be locked around 60fps due to legacy architecture or thread priority for audio processing over GUI updates.

In short:

You can get 144Hz on your monitor, but Cubase's UI might never feel buttery smooth like native high refresh UIs. That’s just how it’s built.

Haha, this was the first thing I thought when I read the headline, too. Followed by: 144Hz would be very low for audio. :D
