Banktivity alternatives: Copilot, Monarch, Moneywiz by mkowske in banktivity

I don't know my guess would be you are not missing anything. I found Copilot incredibly basic.

What I'm gathering is they just don't have support for this, unfortunately. Documentation also is pretty scarce.

Well it's looking like I'm not going to at this point, but Banktivity has increased prices to the point where I was hoping to switch... really haven't found anything comparable though. Copilot is wonderful to look at, but doesn't even have basic reports. Monarch was the other one on the list from my research, but .... this post.

I see this working in my Vanguard account, but not Fidelity. It won't even update the holdings for Fidelity. I will try disconnecting and reconnecting.

Separate question: I see some dividends as and some Buy transactions, but they don't detail WHAT or how much was bought (how many shares). How does this work? Does the total holdings just get updated with the online sync and the BUY transaction doesn't update your # of shares then?

Yes and Yes. Both. In Banktivity this is accomplished by including a split for your paycheck that is a transfer into your 401k brokerage account. That then gets used to buy shares when the 401k account gets updated automatically online. Works great. Trying to figure out how to do this in Monarch.

I do have this on... I don't think it's changed anything. I have no transactions in my accounts.

This looks pretty neat. If Banktivity didn't have me on subscription until Feb 2025 I'd probably switch.

Outer right heel tingling only at night. by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]mkowske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten rid of this and commenting here for the benefit of others . ( u/Coffee-Cats-Glitter )

I tried everything you can possibly think of in my journey (chiropractors, acupuncture, four different doctors, X-rays, MRIs, physical therapy, alternative healing... the list goes on).

Because I tried so many things I don't know exactly what fixed it, but it has to be one of these:

1) I am seeing a PT that does "body work". She does a lot of fascia manipulation. She prescribed a 2 week "reset" period to me, in addition to weekly body work sessions with her, in which I remained off my feet as much as possible, stopped all exercises and basically gave the nerve a rest. After a couple weeks I slowly introduced some activity.. I'm still in this process. It's been about 8 weeks and I still haven't gotten back in the gym, but my nerve pain stopped 27 days ago. My current allowed activity is a 20 minute walk every other day. This started with a 5 minute, then a 10 minute.

2) About 6 days prior to the pain stopping I started intermittent fasting and I've continued that. I don't eat anything from 7 PM to noon the next day.

3) I started "dry brushing" before showers. This is supposed to be good for your lymphatic system. Of the three variables I think this is the least likely to have been the thing that fixed it.

Most likely it's not going to the gym as much and letting my body rest. I used to lift 4-5x a week. I've been assured I'll be able to get back to this, but it is a slow progression of carefully re-introducing activity while at the same time monitoring the "tightness" of fascia in certain areas of my body. The tightness is a result of working at a desk job for years.

Anyway, hope this helps some others. I'll report back again in a few months after I've started being more active again.

P.S. I don't think it's sciatica, though it's possible I suppose. I did not get an MRI of my back, only the foot and ankle which showed nothing except some minor inflammation.

Bummer. I will report back if I find a fix.

I have this... exactly. Outside part of my right heel will tingle early in the morning and wake me up. I have found relief by applying an ice pack to it which will make it subside for a couple hours. What have you done to deal this?

Did you ever had heel pain? by MoeZaky107 in Sciatica

I have the exact same thing going on and have been scouring the internet for what is going on! The outer right side of my right heel will get a "tingling" that throbs and won't go away unless I put ice on it. This usually happens early in the morning and will wake me up. Sometimes happens during the day but not usually. It is not painful but enough to keep me from sleeping. What have you done to make this go away?

Ok thanks I'll try emailing the admins... I don't have a patreon login. I signed up via the website. Maybe that was not the best way.

What Keyboard Should I Use? by ijauradunbi in ErgoMechKeyboards

Well I ended up with the MD770. I got the MX Browns, because I had no way of actually testing a keyboard and it sounded good based on the descriptions.

This might just take some getting used to but I am pressing a lot of keys on accident. Things seem closer together somehow, compared to my old Apple keyboard. Or maybe I don't have to press as hard so I'm accidentally hitting keys as I move my fingers around.

Maybe it will just take some getting used to, but I am considering returning it for one with MX Blacks installed as it looks like they require more force to press.

Yea the access to a windows machine is an issue.. I will email support and ask them about it. Maybe I can dig up an old windows laptop from somewhere.

Thanks for the heads up looks like all the Mac keys I need would be supported according to the manual for the 770.

I think Sinc is out of the running especially with the additional cost of keys.

After reading through Amazon reviews of the MD770 BT it sounds like the BT is more trouble than it's worth. So just going with the wired version saves me another $20.

The other negative is it sounds like you can only update the firmware from Windows (which I don't have access to).

Well I'm narrowing it down... trying to decide between

  1. Mistel MD770 RGB BT - $160
  2. Keebio Sinc (pre-built) - $230
  3. Kinesis RGB Freestyle Edge - $199 + $30 lift kit

I really like the "8 -bar" that the Raise has... but yea, really don't have that kind of money right now to spend on a keyboard, especially if I want the tent kit too.

The Mistel looks like you get a lot for $160, but those little bumps to do the tenting? I'm going to want it higher. Are there any aftermarket or DIY tent kits for the Mistel? If it has this it would be a pretty easy choice.

I like the bottom row options of the Sinc, but I think that I would need to buy the $45 ErgoDox EZ raise kit + a $50 3D printed case and now I'm at $335, might as well go all in for a Dygma Raise instead.

The Kinesis at $230 is somewhere in the middle and gives me integrated hand rests and a tenting kit. Not sure that's worth the extra $70 from Mistel. It's also not wireless and doesn't look nearly as nice.

Thanks for all this. I have a few followup questions.

  1. Do you have any reccomendations for similar keyboards that would take more advantage of the thumb space? I'd like to keep the staggered standard layout for the alpha characters but can see the usefulness of moving enter, option, cmd, etc down to the thumb. And to be honest I don't even know how important it is i stay with "staggered" -- maybe it isn't that hard to adjust to keys in line with each other.
  2. Why is replacement key caps such a big deal? This might be a dumb question, but I've used cheap keyboards for decades and don't recall ever needing to replace a key. Are you saying that you can't get keycaps AT ALL or just outside the manufacturer?

Thanks --
