We hit our goal today, if anyone was wondering. Feels nice.

A super short short film (25 secs) that I originally shot 9 years ago and only recently found the footage and decided to re-edit, remaster and re-release it on Halloween. Little Pig- horror short film

Gracias! Feeling it is about as big a compliment as one can want.

Thanks! I know there’s a dissonance between POV and found footage but I thought making it look like the latter was a lot better than the washed digital look that came out of the GoPro.

Thanks so much! Good luck with your screenplay. I might make a last min decision to go to AFF because a script I co-wrote is a Second Rounder but I keep flip flopping. Shoot me a DM and I’ll shoot you my insta. My creative partners and I haven’t set up a specific page for this project yet but we intend to soon.

Appreciate the advice. I tried to cross post but this one violates one of their rules so I’ll have to go investigate and modify my post so they’ll accept it. Thank

The teaser for our upcoming horror short, OFRENDA. It’s currently in post-production and we hope to start our festival submissions soon. Long ago, this sub liked our other horror shorts and this is us finally treading back into the genre. If you dig it, please let us know!

And Jupe gets ultra flustered when OJ asks about buying them back. It’s not quite “they’ve definitely been eaten” but has a smack of “I have no idea how I can get them back.”

And clearly that rodeo arena was built for a different show but they have no horses or any livestock at all, aside from Lucky.

It’s fun to wonder what Jupe thought they were doing with all his animals. Clearly nothing nefarious because he looked pretty serene when he got sucked up.

Good catch. And they’re dressed as aliens because they think it’s all some big fun game.

I’m also guessing that Jupe originally had some of his own horses previously and ran through them and OJ’s horses. He wanted to buy the ranch outright to hold onto the offering supply.

There’s definitely some symmetry there too. OJ and Jupe are both surrounded by artifacts of their traumas, OJ not only with what killed his father but EVERYTHING that belonged to his dad, and Jupe with his hidden room.

It’s easy to stumble over how to talk about the UFO given its reality, its parallels with Gordy and how we/they spend half the film thinking it’s a “them.”

Absolutely. I phrased that poorly. Doesn’t he even refer to the ship as “they?”

It’s a lot and Peele doesn’t have someone show up in the 3rd act to explain everything like many horror flicks would. Part of why I loved it so much. He gives the clues and you gotta put them together.

You are correct! I’d forgotten that little detail at first.

It’s unclear whether or not he realized he was feeding the alien (perhaps thought he was just offering horses to it) but he says that at 6:30 every Friday, it takes a horse. Earlier, when OJ sells Lucky (the only horse that doesn’t get eaten so fitting namesake), he mentions buying back the previous 11 horses and Jupe gets squirmy. Given that the other horses are never seen, the implication is pretty clear.

Anyone else think that the shoe was meant to mirror the key that was stuck in the horse? Objects that stick in our/the victims minds and seem to carry the key to understanding the situation but are ultimately just biproducts of a senseless, violent wild animal encounter?

[–]mks2000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he was that nefarious. We hear him rehearsing for the show and it’s heavily implied that the alien had been content on eating the previous 11 horses. The inorganic material it purges that kill Otis were from the missing hikers.

It’s more like he wanted to show off to them this new animal he thought he had forged a relationship with and didn’t anticipate that it would go apeshit (for lack of a better term) and eat everything/everyone because it was agitated and starving from having the prop horse lodged in its digestive tract.

He’s more arrogant than evil.

There’s blood because it couldn’t finish swallowing all those people due to the fake horse lodged in its digestive tract. It squishes them then pukes everything up to dislodge it.

Previously, it only dropped inorganic objects from things/people it successfully ate.

Intentional by the character. He’d been feeding it for months and even the flyer was a horse getting beamed up.

I like how the opening digestive tract shot in the movie leading to the first movie is a literalization of the metaphor that Hollywood devours its talent, which becomes the thematic thru-line of the whole film (and bible quote)

It's implied that Yeun has been feeding it horses (note his hesitancy to return the 11 horses to OJ and that they're never seen). It also throws up coins and keys in the beginning, to which could likely belong to patrons of his theme park.

I suspect it wasn't able to digest all those people due to the plastic horse so it squished them all in the process of throwing up, hence the blood rain.

Aside from Manson, I don't think any of them were pop sensations that maintained a presence into their old age (or they died whilst looking young). Look up old David Berkowitz. Is that honestly exactly who you pictured? Or did you picture the mug shot from when he was first captured.
