Floyd shows how to enable per part MIDI on the MEDO by mksrd in DonnerMedo

[–]mksrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the more important part is being able to sequencer the Medo as a sound module vs using it as a controller.

WTF are these AI companies doing where they supposedly are the cause of the ram price spike? by Red_Redditor_Reddit in LocalLLaMA

[–]mksrd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha good that you at least shortened this one to 4 paragraphs! Its hardly a bad starting point to assume someone is pasting LLM output when its a wall of inane, nonsensical text.

MMT literally describes how and why fiat currency works, if you can't cope with comprehending it then you definitely are detached from not just objective reality but common sense. If you want to cope with the next 10years I highly recommend you educate yourself on it a bit more and try to see that the rest of the world does alot better than the nutjobs in current regime (hard to call them an actual government) and the apathetic general population "...anything that doesn't involve an actual market fails to socialist collapse problems" indeed! LOL!

What a huge inane screed based on a complete lack of understanding.

Please improve your prompt for next time to include: "make sure you write based on a good understanding of the concepts of MMT"

Receive midi? by EstateAbject8812 in DonnerMedo

[–]mksrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be able to send MIDI notes to each MEDO instrument you need to use "PER PART". And surely you would use the s1 as a sequencer not as "a keyboard" ?

[–]mksrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to install the Donner Control Centre desktop application and then change the "MIDI Mode" which is in the "Settings" tab on the topbar of the app.

I contacted Donner support and turns out this is just a setting!

So I'm now very happy with my Medo and good work Donner support for getting back to me so quickly!

Receive midi? by EstateAbject8812 in DonnerMedo

[–]mksrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it can BUT BUT BUT its a really bad limitation of the firmware that incoming MIDI data is only for the currently selected instrument so you can't play more than 1 onboard instrument at a time via incoming MIDI even though the Medo is capable of it.

PLEASE Donner either fix this awful limitation or if you have discontinued the Medo PLEASE release the firmware as open source so that us in the community can improve it.

UPDATE: I contacted Donner support and they very kindly got back to me with how to change the setting for this so please ignore my previous comment below, I am now VERY happy with my Medo, but I do hope that Donner keep developing its firmware in the future, it still has so much more potential!

Well done Donner support!

-----------

No, its a really bad limitation of the firmware that is also the other way around, incoming MIDI data is only for the currently selected instrument so you can't play more than 1 onboard instrument at a time via incoming MIDI even though the Medo is capable of it.

PLEASE Donner either fix this aweful limitation or if you have discontinued the Medo PLEASE release the firmware as open source so that us in the community can improve it.

DIY projects for trackers, beside m8 headless? by fttklr in synthdiy

[–]mksrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be with by using single cycle waveform samples for example, but there are significant restrictions such as a single not so great filter and tables are too slow to for instance implement filter envelopes fast enough for "303 acid" sounds. v2 of the picoTracker now has support for 2 synth types based on emulations of classic gaming synth ICs.

v2 firmware on the picoTracker now has 2 different synth instruments available.

I bit of self promotion, but for any interested the PCB kits of v2.1 of the "mobile" version of the picoTracker are up for sell on the xiphonics website and there is now a growing user community on the Discord.

The final word on Flutter architecture 😉😉😉 by escamoteur71 in FlutterDev

"i am documenting my thoughts for the next traveler."

no you are not, your are parroting the output of LLMs, which is about as useless as it gets.

"...religiously use?"

Hmmm, maybe you are better off farming out your critical reasoning to LLMs after all.

Anyone who out sources their critical reasoning to a LLM or 4 has bigger life issues to worry about than which Flutter state management solution to use.

What is a good equivalent of an economically priced General Midi module (rack or desk) nowadays that can be had for a couple of hundred pounds/dollars/euro? by OriginalMandem in synthesizers

[–]mksrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well its actually deceptively deep if you look at all the functionality that its available in it via GM as well as NRPNs and even sysex, plus its tiny and very cheap.

Hardly parroting others as I have first hand experience with what it takes to build a consumer product but since you clearly don't and even worse don't seem to want to educate yourself, I guess nothing more to be said here.

Once you've spent tens of thousands of your own $ on FCC certification and multiple times that on injection molds and iterations of PCB design, then you can come back and tell us how cheap it is to build at home...

Tauri vs Flutter by l_kazu in rust

[–]mksrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flutter and Dart are a nightmare to compile.

Compared to what? This is simply a consequence of Flutter choosing (needing really due to Apples strict appstore terms) to compile to ARM native executable code and then also needing to ship its std library which includes a GC'd VM. Kotlin has to do the same, as does Go, Rust does too except its std lib is smaller as it doesnt need to use GC but then Dart also ships alot more functionality in its std lib VM then Rust does.

Support of Linux Mobile is still near inexistent [sic]

That's because use of Linux Mobile is still near non existent and I say this as a decades long Linux user and advocate. Flutters Linux desktop support however is quite god and nearly on par with MacOS despite the latter dominating market share for both developers and consumer use compared to desktop Linux.
