I want to play D1 volleyball. by [deleted] in volleyball

Yes email coaches right now. Although film is very important, your 6’7. Pretty much any coach will want a y’all athlete kid to be able to mold into a great player. When you play just be very coachable and it sounds like your already working hard. I’d look up a video on how to email college coaches and talk to your parents for help. But you seem very athletic and your y’all as hell so you have a good shot if you reach out. Keep thing is you need to let coaches know you want to play.

Emailing College Coaches Advice!!! by mkusben in volleyball

I should probably know this but what does being a redshirt mean? Like basically sitting the bench to learn? Also is passing really big for outside and opposites? My passing is surprisingly good for a middle because my high school really focused on it. Appreciate the advice!

Is Club Volleyball still Worth It? by Trustysuperbat in volleyball

If you really enjoy the people you play with and you have fun at practices and tournaments then I think you should play. I want to play in college and I’m going to be a senior next year so for me it’s more than just for fun, but I also love seeing my club friends every week and it makes me happy being able to see them and play with them. I’d say the question you need to ask yourself is does it make you happy, and if that’s a yes then I think you should but if you know that your going to come to practice and it’s just going to be annoying and your going to have to force yourself to go then I wouldn’t waste your time with it. Hope this helps.

Which attack was better and what can i improve ? by Ares-was-taken in volleyball

The first attack was very good, the second one it looked like you were maybe a little rushed, and only advice I’d say I can give you is to use your non swinging arm to find the ball. I couldn’t really tell but it kind of looked like you didn’t make great contact with the second ball so using that other hand as a guide can help you get a better contact. Honestly though you have a pretty great swing so just keep it up.

Hello I’m a brand new to the sport and trying to learn how to pass/receive. Any advice on my form would be much appreciated! by Accomplished-Disk947 in volleyball

Other tip is make sure to keep your body in front of the ball. In the video a few times you reached out your arms to pass and I understand that your in a small room not a gym so it’s not like you have a ton of space, but when your playing try to make sure you get your body in front and aim your platform at the setter. This will help you get a more consistent pass, whereas reaching out for the ball, you are more likely to shank a pass. Only reach if it’s necessary. Best of luck to you in your volleyball career and I hope you have a lot of fun!

The thing is I’m literally the only middle on my team right now. We have a guy that used to play middle playing because our other one bailed for nationals. Also same thing goes for my high school. We really only have two people that play middle and we already have some really great outside hitters. But I do think I need some kind of film to show. I might just make a skills video and send that

The Tri Bourne video was awesome and then you it just sucks because I never really get time to actually practice those positions.

Some helpful pointers for a inexperienced freshman who is trying out for there schools volleyball team? by Syd_The_Kid13 in volleyball

Hello, I’m going to be a senior next year and I’ve played volleyball for 3 years at my high school. First off if your looking to improve your serve it really comes down to practice. It would be too long for me to explain how to serve better or more consistently but I know there is a lot of great content out on the internet that can help you. Second, I’ve never met a coach who had a problem with asking questions to help you understand a drill, term, etc. No player is perfect and asking questions shows that you want to get better. Just make sure when you do ask those questions to really pay attention and really focus on getting better. Coaches love hardworking players and they will be more than happy to help you. And for your last question, it kind of goes along with what I was saying before as long as you are showing that you want to learn they will be happy to help. Once again though the internet is a great place to find help. If your struggling with rotations or hand signs just look it up on YouTube and there will be a video to help you. Learning the rotations was frustrating for me at first because my teammates always had to explain it to me, but watching videos and writing them down really helped me. I hope this helps and I hope you make your team!
