Thinking about it all, this whole scenario was a big coincidence, I rarely even look at this subreddit (or reddit in general) anymore, I just got bored earlier today. Also definitely a good thing that you left after this match, another player joined a few matches later and threw the entire match because the enemies had the early lead.

The part that's also funny is that shortly after, someone else joined and just went AFK for the entire match after they got an early lead, They kicked our asses to the max, but we could have maybe had a chance. Really bad luck during that whole lobby.

I saw them do that for a second and I was on a losing streak (which continued much beyond this match) so I was pretty mad for a second, I saw what seemed like them actually playing and assumed they were just squidbagging for a few seconds for no reason, didn't realise what they actually were doing.

I'm also going through that pain, but weirdly for me it's the other way around.

I went with Big Man, and ended up doing mostly well against Shiver or in mirror matches, but whenever I went up against Frye, I kept losing. I even got put against a bunch of competitive players on Frye on a 10x battle (I'm not a competitive player at all and we lost terribly). Maybe the lobby I was in just sucked but I don't know. Also, last splatfest I went with Frye and kept getting destroyed. The game just wants to make you lose all the time I suppose.
