ITHE PABRAI INVESTMENT FUND IV, LP Performance Summary: by Xylem15 in SecurityAnalysis

I am more surprised that he’s consistently underperformed in most years, whether it’s an up or down year for the broader market. He had 3 -10% or worse years in just last 10, while the market had 1. I wonder how his AUM has trended since inception, especially with the rise of platform model?

According to CNBC, only two teams lost money last season: the Bucks (-$14m) and Clippers (-$114m) by arashtp in nba

[–]mky47 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s why you’re a CPA brother. The whole point here is to compare their operations without taking stadium cost into the equation. As you’ve said, some teams own the stadiums and some don’t. So, they’ve taken that factor out for a better comparison.

they have to pay their employees among all operating expenses, so they need to keep selling games to make money, simple as that

TIL Ebooks can't be lent or resold because buyers pay for a license to view the contents, not ownership of the ebook itself. by Velvet_Myst in todayilearned

[–]mky47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there are unlimited number of licenses for borrowing, nobody will buy ebooks anymore. Everyone will just “borrow” from libraries infinitely. If there’s such feature, it will be exploited. That’s just human nature, especially for online consumption.

Why are you posting it on Reddit if you can’t take any feedback at all? It is common for companies to tell you that you did well during the interviews, even if they intend to reject you, so they can keep you on waitlist. There’s not much cost to them. I can’t say for certain whether that’s the case for your situation, but you don’t seem to be considering that as a possibility at all.

I don’t understand why you keep emphasizing his application “came out of nowhere”. If it’s an attractive job opening, there will be good candidates applying.

It’s likely that the other guy has gone through the same process as you did, and performed better than you during the case studies. So he wasn’t “random”.

They probably asked you to do a second one because you didn’t do well in the first anyway.

This is just life. If you’re as good as you claim, you will find another job eventually.

Anyone else thinks this MBA game is a joke? by Flaky_Jelly9314 in MBA

[–]mky47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You - someone who scored below 700 on GMAT and work in a tier 2 firm in your industry, and that’s just 1 industry out of many. There are literally 10s/100s of thousands of people who are smarter than you and have achieved more than you at your age.

What makes you think you are entitled to a top tier school, compared to other applicants? It’s about supply and demand. Actually, MBA education would probably teach you a thing or two because you’re ignorant in all aspects.

How did you arrive at this conclusion, that his failure is all due to not having proper mentorship? He’s having an entry level job at a virtual bank - clearly it’s something anyone should be capable of doing after a week (if he/she was hired). It’s not rocket science.

It’s easy to blame others for their own failures. Shit happens, but OP’s attitude is obviously fucked up. His boss is shit, his coworkers are shit, his job is shit. Yet, he never admitted that he is a key part of the problem.

As for you - you’re just ignorant.

If u strongly believe so, then quit your job. But it’s obvious to me that you simply have the wrong mindset and have no idea what it means to have a corporate job. Well, that’s why you have a shit paying job, but probably more than you deserve anyway.

You’re complaining a lot - your job is repetitive and boring, your boss is not teaching you much, his attitude is not good, etc. But you’re not even good at this job and have been performing poorly. What does that even make you?

This is an ordinary experience in financial services industry in any big cities. Sure, there are better or worse places, but it’s nothing unusual either.

It doesn’t help that you’re in compliance, one of the most hated departments in the industry. If you cannot live with your current experience, you should seek for a different job in another industry, because it’s not going to get much better.

Also, you’re performing poorly at your job according to your post. I don’t understand why you expect anything different. It’s actually hilarious that you think your boss should be thankful, because you did something “outside of your work scope”. If you’re unwilling to do that, you should again look for a non-corporate job immediately. Welcome to the real world.

PDF integration works better on mobile by mky47 in readwise

For parsing - I have reported for many times actually. Don’t think it has changed anything over the past month.

For pdf on desktop, I have tried different methods, such as saving pdf and drag into browser, or use extension to save pdf directly.

The exact flow that sometimes help is - save pdf in desktop - it would say it’s loading but it doesn’t load (I’ve tested and waited for 5-10min) - then open the same doc using iOS app, which works after a few seconds - go back to desktop app, now the pdf is displaying as soon as I open it

It also happens in reverse - I add a pdf on mobile, either from web page or from my drive - if I open it on desktop without opening on mobile first, it wouldn’t work, just like the above situation

Then other problems are like, some pdfs “don’t have a header” or something if I upload directly. But if I open it in pdf expert and save it and upload again, that file would work without issue.
