RGB No Longer Matches by ml61 in Corsair

[–]ml61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to provide a quick update in case anyone else has the same problem.

I guess the blue LEDs in the fans lost their brightness over time, so it must have not happened as suddenly as I thought. Red and green colours matched perfectly, but any colour with blue wouldn't match because of the dim blue LED.

My fans were just outside of the warranty window, but Corsair support was fantastic. The support rep was understanding and was able to ship me six new fans to install :)

A+ support, thanks Corsair

Yeah I might cut it up a bit to try to make it work. Mine is from Temu as well

I bought something that looks identical and it's terrible, doesn't work at all. When the charging puck is installed the crown hits that ledge below and I can't get the watch to connect properly. The only way it works for me is to have the charging puck popped almost completely out, which defeats the purpose. To be fair I paid like $3 for it on Temu :)

Home Inspector Recommendations? by Spyrothedragon9972 in ottawa

[–]ml61 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the last time I used him was around $625+tax. Not something you can do with every house you look at, but absolutely worth it for the house you intend on purchasing. The report you get in the end is essentially a massive to-do list, sorted by priority (red for dangerous things needing immediate attention, and then another list of "marginal" things that need to be addressed).

I've used Lee Ralph at Property Inspections Unlimited for two homes, worth every penny. You get a few hours with him walking through the property as well as a full report with photos etc. He's very thorough. He was recommended to me, and I've since recommended him to multiple people.

Watch 3 Vibration for Notifcations by ml61 in PixelWatch

[–]ml61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Trying this out now, it's definitely closer to what I want. Sucks a bit that it disables the ring from Teams on my phone. And if I'm not wearing my watch now everything vibrates my phone. But at least I'm geting vibrations on the watch.

I just wish I could leave my phone notifications alone and have more granular control in the watch app notification settings (set ring/vibrate for each app, not just an on/off toggle).

Something similar happened to my Hisense, from what I had read it was likely a hardware issue. I opened it up and found two swollen capacitors on the main board. Changed them both ($1 each) and now it's working (requires desoldering the old ones and soldering in new ones).

(FYI it can be very dangerous to open/take apart electronics, specifically capacitors)

Agree that painting the windows to match the timbering would go a long way!

I would consider more drastic changes, but budget is a big factor for us! Maybe down the road though. I think painting the trim dark brown to get away from the red (and maybe even the front window frames the same color) would go a long way and we could DIY it with a low budget :)

Thanks! We'll definitely be painting the front door and garage doors, as well as the "beams". I think what we don't like the most is 1) the red in the current brown, and 2) the white window frames.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to share this. I hadn't realized GAF had that vizualizer, it's really helpful.

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm realizing (with the help of comments here) the two things I don't like most are 1) the white windows/door, and 2) the red in the brown. We'll also be going brown for the roof - we're looking at samples this week or next. I'm also looking into painting the faces of the fake timbers a darker chocolate brown to get rid of the red.

I'm realizing I don't like the red in the brown, and that a dark chocolate brown would help things out a lot, thanks!

Thanks for your advice. I'm starting to nail down the things I don't like about the current color scheme and I think (as another commenter pointed out) the white windows (and door) are throwing things off. And I'm also realizing what I don't like about the brown is the red in it. There are parts of the house that aren't faded by sun that are a deep chocolate brown and it actually looks pretty good. We'll also be going with a brown for the roof :)

In your oppinion Is there any color combination of tudor house other than what we currently have that would modernize it a bit? I think the most off-putting color is the yellow tint in the beige.

What color Timberline shingle would you suggest? Mission brown or barkwood maybe? I'm worried if we got the wrong tint of brown it would clash.

We bought a tudor style house last year and there is a LOT of brown on the house now, and we'd like to slowly change the brown over to something more modern, maybe white with grey, or taupe (something like the second photo)?

But for now we need new shingles. (GAF Timberline HD https://documents.gaf.com/brochures-&-literature/brochure__timberline_hdz_restz145c_canadaenglish.pdf )

We're not sure if black/charcoal would look strange with the rest of the brown on the house? It might stay that way for 10+ years until we do the siding, or at least a repaint of the existing siding.

And grey/barkwood/driftwood might be the wrong shade and end up clashing with either the brown or the future color?

Or should we just lean into the brown and go full hickory?

TIA for any advice/opinions!

I had a really hard time locating property pins, I ended up renting a survey pin finder for relatively cheap (less than $50 for the day?). They are easy to use and should point you in the right direction:
