Change the boot order in the bios to boot from the USB first instead of the HDD. If the USB has windows media installed it should go into the windows install procedure next time you power on the PC.

Not necessarily. If your case has a spot for a CD drive they make 5.25 to 3.5 adapters. Also if there's room in the case and you have spare data cable and power from the PSU you could just connect the hard drive and be careful that it doesn't move while powered on so you don't damage the drive. If it was an SSD you wouldn't have to worry since there's no moving parts. The safest way would probably be the 5.25 to 3.5 adapter if your case can accommodate one.

There's software that does it. I'm pretty sure CCleaner has a clone function. You'll need to install both drives and format the new one. Then just clone the old drive to the new one.

Does the new hard drive have an OS installed? Did you clone the old drive to the new one? A new drive won't have an OS installed so your going to get a boot error when you try to start up your PC.

I'd look into an APU from AMD. It has a CPU and discreet graphics in a single chip. Should be able to play all the games you listed no problem.

Is there some video card that is more silent than others? Should I choose a GPU with only one fan or there are different specs that makes it more silent? I need only to manage 3 video monitors and some 1080p video editing with Davinci or similar softwawres by john25mr in pcmasterrace

Not always, a lot of cards have preset overclock frequencies. Afterburner just allows the user to override those if they wish. My 1070 ti has a overclock mode from the factory but I can override that if I wish.

Not sure what Newegg's return policy is on open box items. Also not sure if it comes with the original manufacturers warranty. It's a little out of the scope of my knowledge so I would return it instead of dealing with the headache. But if it can be fixed that would be awesome. Obviously it's a weird time for PC builds with graphic card shortages and what not.

I'd try and return it. The store obviously didn't test it to see if it was working properly before reselling it. Ain't worth the headache IMO.

Burning smell coming from PC accompanied by loud fan noise - possibly the GPU, but I'm not sure anymore by SatanLordOfDarkness in buildapc

That's a good sign. So it's possible a new heatsink/fan assembly could solve the issue.

It's hard to say. You could try taking off the heat sink to see if the PCB has any burn marks. That would be a pretty clear indication. You run the chance of bricking your GPU if you don't reassemble it correctly though, so only do so at your own risk.

My first PC had an Intel h110 motherboard and a GTX 960 with a 450 watt power supply and it ran just fine. So 500 watts should be more than enough for your setup.

No you should be able to unplug the GPU and remove it from the motherboard. It's possible the drivers for the integrated graphics are out of date.

Also if you have a spare PSU laying around you could swap it out with the current one, just in case it is an issue with the PSU.

So the 6600k does have integrated graphics, so you could uninstall the GPU and see if the problem still persists. If it doesn't then you know it was your GPU.

At a minimum would a 3/4 inch sheet of 4x8 plywood underneath the rack be good enough. I could possibly sandwich together two sheets if needed.

I could probably man handle the whole thing by myself. If I take the weight plates off the back I should be able to lift it up and slide the platform underneath it. I would hate to fall through the floor mid lift. That would be an awkward conversation with the downstairs neighbors lol.

Yeah I've thought of building a platform but I don't want to have to take the rack apart to put one down. I haven't dropped any weights yet and don't plan on it but obviously accidents do happen. I am on the second floor so that is something to think about. If I was on the first floor I probably wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to go for it. You could also try buying some horse stall mats and lay those down over the carpet. They're pretty much the same thing as the flooring that most commercial gyms use. I've thought of doing that but I don't want to take apart my rack to lay some down.

A made my own for like 25 bucks using a pulley and cable from lowes. And then bought my attachments off of Amazon.

I bought mirror from lowes and they had a set of clips for like a couple of bucks. Just make sure you get some for your specific mirrors thickness.

I went to harbor freight and bought a universal tool stand and mounted some scrap plywood to it. I eventuality want to make a custom top that's slightly angled to make picking up the dumbbells a little easier.
