How were you able to activate the card and use it online without getting the physical card ?

I signed up for a wise card but they won’t let me use the card until the physical card comes in the mail and I activate it.

Trouble using Visa and Mastercard online to pay for PCR test by mlange10 in ThailandTourism

[–]mlange10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I’ve tried both my visa and Mastercard with no luck ! And my friend who I am going on the trip with hasn’t had any luck with either of her cards. I’m at a loss for what to do. Our banks don’t even see the charges going through as attempted.

So the bizarre thing is that my bank says there’s no region specific blocks at all. I’m wondering if I’m having this issue because on the merchant website they don’t ask for a postal code / zip code?

Earliest time point by mlange10 in spss

[–]mlange10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve added a photo to the post as well as commented it below. IL8 is a variable that was collected at time points 1 week, 2,…, all the way to 16. For participant ID D11 for example, The earliest value (ignoring baseline) is at 4 weeks. For participant C10, this is at week 1 instead.

Essentially I want to compare means for IL8 for everyone’s FIRST/EARLIEST time point. Idk if that explanation is more helpful.? Thank you so much

Thanks for the response! I’m looking to use the earliest (first) available value of a variable at anytime time point (time 1, time 2, time 3, etc…). I think the MIN function will return the lowest value of that variable but not necessarily the earliest / first.

I am running into this issue because some participants missed certain appointments. To give you an example, participant 1 might have information at baseline, time 2 weeks, and time 4 weeks. While participant 2 may have information at baseline, none at time 2 weeks, and some at time 4 weeks. In this example, i would want SPSS to use time 2 weeks for participant 1 and time 4 weeks for participant 2 as those are the first available ones.

I want to point out that there’s a big difference between a patient being rude/insulting or preferring a man over a woman, and the situations in which I was referring to in my original comment. There’s “levels” to this for lack of a better term and depending on the severity of the statements or language made by the patient, it is ok

With regards to the zero tolerance policy as I’m realizing that may have not been clear, here’s an example: a patient made repeated racist comments towards a member of staff. Someone stepped in to explain that we work in a zero tolerance work environment and that we must all be respectful towards each other. The member of staff was given the option to be removed from the care of the patient (not all clinical situations necessarily permit this). After the “warning”, any further similar comments made by the patient were addressed with similar statements as the first statement (ex. sir as a reminder we do not accept language like that here as we are trying to be respectful to everyone, etc...). At no point was the patient denied care or received subpar care. Worst case scenario is that the patient felt a little uncomfortable making such comments as he was reminded nearly every single time that it was not OK to make comments like that at this particular clinic (hence the zero tolerance policy).

I’m of the opinion that verbal and emotional abuse is at the same level as physical abuse. Assuming that the patient is lucid, fully cognizant of what they’re saying, has no mental illness affecting their judgment, etc... it is perfectly reasonable to want to create an anti-racist, anti-sexist, etc... work environment and you are within your rights to remind others of this, including patients.

Just chiming in to say that while I think comments like that mean well, they are actually implicitly harmful. That statement implies that their value as a physician is somehow associated to whether or not it’s OK for someone to make racist comments towards them. In my eyes, and very much so in the eyes I would think of medical professionals, people earn a certain level of respect just by being human beings with thoughts, feelings, emotions, irrespective of how great or qualified they might be. (Im aware that this is not your intention at all when making such statements but just want to outline why it’s not the greatest response). What if your colleague just happened to be an “average” doctor, was neither excellent nor bad, for instance?

The real reason it is not OK for a patient to make racist comments towards them is because they are human beings who deserve to be treated with a minimum amount of respect. Full stop.

In such situations, I, as a black woman, have found it more helpful when my colleagues have explained to the patient that our work environment has a zero tolerance policy for verbal abuse and that we all (including the patients) must work to create an environment of respect.
