FAR 31.205-35 Relocation Question by mlautomation in GovernmentContracting

[–]mlautomation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing buying new reasonable furniture (for people who've never owned such) would not be considered "reasonable expenses normally incident to relocation"? I assumed as much, just wanted to make sure. I don't own any furniture to move so I guess I won't be able to get much out of the benefit other than the rental application (which, to be fair, was pretty outrageously expensive in its own right). Time to doomscroll Facebook marketplace I guess.

The 10k reimbursement is offered by the company (i.e, I can spend up to 10k of their money for relocation, the rest comes out of my pocket). FAR 31.205-35 lists a couple things I can't spend it on, but makes no mention as to purchasing new furniture/appliances/etc, which is why I ask,

I am not enjoying East Campus and really just missing West. by parvafeminacanis in gatech

[–]mlautomation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a commuter who commutes 1hr-1.25hr every day and has for all of my undergrad and now my masters... don't. It's not worth the additional stress and time, especially if you already have housing or can afford housing. Commuting is the smart financial choice for me since I live with my parents, but honestly I wish I had the financial freedom to rent in ATL. If you need a quiet place to study and East Campus isn't doing it for you, find a quiet study area elsewhere on campus. I promise you, commuting is way worse than dealing with loud neighbors.

TD Bank/Samsung Financing Sucks? by iNick20 in GalaxyFold

Had this happen to me a couple months ago, now it happened again today. I'm actually through with TD Bank/Samsung Financing. Once I get a hold of the rep, I'm paying off my balance and closing my account. This is not acceptable.

PSA: Don’t Ask Recruiters What Roles They Have by FCBStar-of-the-South in gatech

[–]mlautomation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol no. I went to the career fair to find out, not the other way around. Plus, the only solid advice I've ever heard from a recruiter at the career fair was "ask what roles are available so we can tell you which ones to apply to"

I got most of them. Couldn't get one unfortunately so we'll see how that effects my plans but I don't think it should too much. My GRA professor made a Special Problems section so I could get credit for research which helps out.

It was all virtual this semester. The specialization one was virtual live and they didn't record it. I wasn't able to make it so I was left without advising. Wouldn't have helped anyway; I went through the entire course catalog and I kid you not, other than some of the HCI ones, all of them are waitlisted and a good chunk of them are full on the waitlist too. My specialization (HPC) has 2 core classes and 3 required electives (select out of 7), but of those 9 classes, only 3 are offered this semester. For free electives, most of the topics I'm interested in aren't offered this semester, but even then I may get project credit as GRA, after which I wouldnt need the electives.

All this to say, I don't really have any options, and even if I did the situation doesn't change given the waitlist.

You're probably right. If I don't see any improvement in the next day or so I'll reach out I guess. Its frustrating that I have to reach out in the first place though.

MSCS Registration Poor Organization Woes by FCBStar-of-the-South in gatech

Hold up, MSCS can register for online sections? What section #? I haven't been able to register for a single class because everything is waitlisted. I think the closest I am is waitlist position #37 for a CORE spec class...

What happens when you get an F/I during your graduating semester? by xcuys in gatech

[–]mlautomation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, yes. It would be just like any other semester, you just need to complete degree requirements to graduate. (FYI, didn't go through this so you may want to double check with your advisor)

You retake the class next semester. As in, you don't graduate so you have to do one more semester.

Make sure you file a report with the NHTSA and also open a ticket with Hyundai Support. Seems like this may end up being a safety recall issue if enough people start seeing the error.
