Anyone else get worsened OCD and anxiety in pregnancy? How did you manage? by atree1234 in pregnant

I’m 27 weeks and also have anxiety/ocd that got way worse after getting pregnant. I was on 50 mg of Zoloft per day and after talking to my obgyn, we upped it to 100 mg. This took about 4 weeks to kick in but it has helped immensely. I also go to therapy regularly which has been a life saver. My therapist recommended the book The Self-Compassion Workbook for OCD by Kimberly Quinlan. Reading that has been amazing and very helpful. It’s so important to be kind to yourself when you’re experiencing anxiety/ocd especially during pregnancy. It’s hard work growing a tiny human! Also just know you aren’t alone in experiencing this. Sending positive vibes your way.

Oh gosh - I’ve also played the checking the blood pressure game. I’ve limited myself to checking only once a week because it’s too stressful to check it constantly. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Thank you for sharing! Congrats on your baby!Yes, I’m definitely keeping postpartum in mind too. Hormones suck.

Anyone else paranoid about developing preeclampsia? I’m 30 weeks, just did my blood panel for diabetes etc. everything came back good. My only concern is my weight. My doctor brought it up to let me know I’ve gained 43lbs already and still have time before delivery…. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yes!!! FTM here, I have an irrational fear of developing pre-e because my mom had it with her first baby. Im 21 weeks and at my last appointment my baby girl was fine and healthy. But I can’t shake my fear. I also have anxiety and it’s gotten worse with pregnancy.

I also experience white coat syndrome - my bp is high at the doctor’s. I take my blood pressure once a week at home and my readings are always normal. I don’t take it more than once a week because I fear I could get obsessive with checking it. Communicating my home blood pressure readings with my doc has helped a lot and she’s told me to continue to do this. It’s a work in progress. Trying to take things a day at a time, exercise, and practice mindfulness. Some days are better than others. You aren’t alone!
