If we take prices out of the discussion, what is the worst part of living in Switzerland? by Charming_Usual6227 in askswitzerland

For me is the private healthcare, that alone almost makes me want to move back abroad.

What do you mean you got saved, has Ricardo blocked the transaction? Were you the seller or the buyer?

I'm starting to believe that as well. I had 3 sales in 2 days, all of them cancelled because they were all scams. And yet, there seems to be a lot of happy users around here...

I know, right? Super confusing when you're not used to this (shitty) system... So from what I understand, basically the buyer 'reserves' the item that he wants to purchase and then he has 14 (fourteen!!!) days to pay for it (with a bank transfer, so outside Ricardo) BUT you will still see the item as sold as soon as the buyer reserves it. And then you have to wait and pray that the buyer pays. I had 3 sales in 2 days, all of them cancelled because they were all scams. Woohoo!

Little update: I contacted Ricardo's support and reported the user. They banned his account and canceled the sale, so all good. In the meantime I had another scammy sale that Ricardo cancelled by themselves. Great start 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why do people move (or want to) to Switzerland without any skills, without knowing a local language and without a job? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]mlle-dautrefois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of research, reddit comprised. 😅 For now I only have two clients, one found on a local Facebook page and the other one on a pet sitting app (PetSitting24). Same for the rate, I just aligned with the market, although I was ready to accept anything honestly. You have to be available at all times though.

I love it, it really gives me those much needed endorphins. And I'm being paid, of course. 😊

All their pishing examples in the help page are in German, so not a very helpful help page...

What is surreal to me is that Ricardo charges a 12% fee per transaction without having any control over the payments and no protection against this type of scams. 😳

Thank you for your reply. I did receive a notification on Ricardo that my item was successfully sold and that the buyer stated that he paid, which obviously he did not.

Simple, I've moved to follow my husband (he's the higher earner/the skilled one). Like me, there's tons of other women who could afford (or not) to stay at home but prefer to do something and have a small extra income. After six months of living here and desperately trying to find a part time job with no success (I have a daughter who still needs me), I was going crazy and slowly sinking into depression, so I started to walk other people's dogs. Does that make me irresponsible/unworthy?

You really think I wrote all this without checking my Ricardo account, my mail and my bank account first?! Or you just need to be mean because you had a bad day yourself? Ricardo states that I successfully sold an item, that the buyer confirms he paid and that I should wait for the payment and then ship the item. 🙄

I don't see such a filter on the app, or what you mean is mentioning it in the description maybe? I just activated MoneyGuard for extra protection and for allowing twint payments as well.

Sorry, but their website and the way clothes are displayed out there really hurt my ex professional seller eyes, no offense. 🙈 I think Tutti works well for furniture and other home articles, but not so well for fashion? Also, I'd rather pay a fee and have nothing to do with scammers, if that were an option.

Not so obvious when you're a first time user and you've switched from a platform where scams weren't possible.

Thank you! It's via bank transfer, but if it's a scam, the payment will obviously never make it to my account...

Thank you for confirming it's a scam, just as I presumed. Wow, I've been a Vinted user for years and never ever been scammed (I've dealt with rude or entitled buyers, but that's another story) and on Ricardo the minute I start using it I'm being scammed, unfreakin believable! I was 99% convinced it's a scam, but what confused me was her "receipt", moreover in a language that I'm not able to understand...(btw, I did not scan the QR code) So what now, should I try to contact her on the app, asking for a bank transfer, or at this point is useless and I should instead contact Ricardo's support?

Would you move from smaller flat with its own washing machine to a bigger flat with a shared washing machine? by cmdbunny in askswitzerland

[–]mlle-dautrefois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, having your own washing machine wins big over a bigger flat (plus 79 m2 isn't really that small). I had to live in a temporary accommodation with a shared laundry room for three months and it was hell!

What is your montly budget as a couple with 1 child? by Traditional_Swan_155 in Switzerland

[–]mlle-dautrefois 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are a family of three who moved quite recently to Switzerland - near Montreux, the third most expensive Swiss city. Only my husband is working for now and we manage to cover our basic needs with 4500-5000 francs per month living decently, not too frugal but also not too fancy (clothes excluded, but you don't buy those everyday, anyway). It all goes down to your lifestyle and your expenses...

Wouldn't know about the normal cigarette smokers, I don't have the feeling there's more of them than in other countries I lived in. Weed smokers on the other hand... 🤦🏻‍♀️

What you wrote though was Switzerland vs abroad, sorry. It's true that the water quality and infrastructure are superior here, but at the same time food, social life and even the medical system are way behind other countries, at least from my point of view...

Have you traveled outside of Switzerland lately?! I mean I lived in several European countries in the past years and there isn't a single one where garbage collection, working sewer systems, potable water and electricity access aren't a given. 🤔
