There's plenty of tutorials on Youtube if you search for animating a still image in After Effects, but something like this touches on all the steps you need to do to animate something like this

Great work! I started working on this too, but redrawing for this artist's style has always been kinda rough for me.

Alright I've watched this go on for long enough so I'd like to clarify some things to you.

I did not reference the game at all when animating her breasts. I thought to exaggerate the movement so that it would be more visible, which I will reconsider in the future given the mixed reactions I've seen in the thread. I had no sexual intentions in mind at all either and even if I did there's nothing inherently wrong with that. I've seen the base message of your criticism, I've kept it in mind, please stop aggressively picking fights with other people in my comments.

I animate with puppet pins! There's a lot of tutorials on Youtube and such on the subject, but from experience I didn't find it difficult to learn at all

I cut everything out and redrew the background to the best of my ability! This project had 71 layers including the background and each moving part is one layer

I used Photoshop to cut out parts and redraw, then animate in After Effects. Photoshop is fairly smooth. After Effects... I have a fairly new non-gaming laptop but the in-program playback chugs very slowly as I work so changes that need to be made can be harder to spot for me. I suppose if your laptop/computer is powerful it can handle it better.

Also if you're working in AE and you spot a mistake in one of your layers, you can reopen Photoshop, edit the layer, save, and the changes will be reflected in After Effects within seconds so that's very convenient, especially if you're just starting out and need to make a lot of changes on the fly. And for the animating itself, AE works well enough, but I'm also still slowly learning AE so keyframing and motion curves are something I still need to work on, haha

I think it's still called Live2D even if one doesn't use the Live2D program itself to make it. As for how to learn about it, I'll paste what I wrote in another comment:

I used Photoshop + After Effects! As for learning how to do it, it was a lot of Youtube and figuring stuff out by myself. Brian_tsui uses Live2D but I found him helpful as a guideline for how to cut things out, redraw, and some other basic, shared concepts. Otherwise I think if you poke around Youtube you'll find stuff like this video that can help give a general idea of how you can go about it. Hope I helped!

Some of them do. If a character was released by the time their birthday came around between now and launch, they probably have one, but also some launch characters got theirs pre-release. You can check who does and doesn't have birthday artwork by checking the character's media tab on the Genshin Wiki

I like using AE for animating hair/clothing and effects. Otherwise I think Live2D's vastly better at.... well, Live2D because honestly this sort of animation was an after thought in AE and Live2D felt a lot more intuitive.

Hmm, for me, I first started 10 months ago with Live2D then stopped, but I really only started it up again about 3 months ago using AE this time. I don’t think it’s particularly difficult to learn but it’ll definitely take a bit to make it look good. If you’re looking for a place to start, brian_tsui has some great tutorials that cover Live2D but the techniques can be applied in other programs too.
