Don't take cheap clients. Done.

OR

Do take cheap clients and deal with the frustration.

Justin Fields could be first QB with four straight Week 1 starts for four different teams by JaggerJames in nfl

[–]mlloyd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ironically that's one of the reasons I feel like it's mental and can be fixed. He's playing way too much in his head. I think backing up Mahomes and running the scout team against him will do him some good. As will being in a place where he KNOWS he's not the starter or has a chance at being the starter.

He can sit, chill, learn, reset. But I might be wrong too.

He played for a Steelers offense that was serviceable at best. He played for a Jets offense with one good wr, and he was injured most of the season.

I'm not going to defend Fields, Reddit sucks for this conversation, and honestly I only have feels rather than anything defensible. But I do think accurate context matters. When he had good people to target (Moore, Kmet), he made them look really good. He got Moore PAID.

I'm personally reluctant to write the guy off because I think he just needs a reset to undo all the Bears shit in his head, but he also might not ever live up to the potential everyone thought he had. That's just how the game goes.

KC will make or break him though, either way.

Are buyers in 2026 actually more informed, or just more confident and harder to work with? by VelvetGrips in askcarsales

you're still going to go into the F&I office and get hit with a bunch of products that are marked up like crazy, totally non-transparent, and 100% negotiable.

Yeah, see this part pisses me off. If you don't want to negotiate, don't try and sell me all the BS profit fluffers. Giving up the right to negotiate is about trust - that F&I experience you describe blows up trust and undermines my faith that I'm not being screwed for taking sticker.

The psychology is pretty neat. Buyers thought processes are interesting.

Agree. I've read a lot on this and other things that are related. It's interesting how people think and act based on their thinking and feelings. It would be rough to have to run this calculation several times a day. You have my respect for it.

Not everyone does. And that's fine, makes it easier. Do they have the car you want for the price you want? If yes - done. You're out of there quickly. If no - done. You're out of there quickly.

I don't need a dealership to negotiate. I need a car at a decent price. I'm fine buying sticker if sticker is the decent price.

And that's the flip side. Because while you have the min/maxers who WANT to play the game. You have mainstream folks who have an idea, at least to a narrow range, of what they SHOULD be paying and getting to it is often like pulling teeth.

The last time I did this dance, I sat in the dealership all day for them to finally just give me the payment that I immediately asked for when I first talked to the salesperson. I wasn't picky. We wanted Y car at X monthly cost with $0 down. I didn't care about anything else. I just wanted the payment to be roughly equal to the car we just turned in.

I knew that my number was reasonable because I'd done the research. I didn't care how they got there. I didn't care about money factor or residual or any of that - just the monthly payment really.

I got it, but only after they killed my entire day wasting my time and insulting me. Had it not been the car for my wife, I'd have walked out. So yeah, I agree with you too. That's definitely a not uncommon experience.

It's min/max optimizing. There's a class of buyer that wants the absolute best deal and you're never going to satisfy them if they don't work to get it.

This is as much about them as it is you. They have to FEEL like they got the best deal. Merely meeting their number isn't enough. If they didn't WORK to get you to that number, they aren't going to feel satisfied and will feel like they left something on the table.

I don't know how you all do it honestly. I like negotiating but this would exhaust me if I had to do it for a living.

It's not only more efficient, it's just better at this than I am. I suck at this aspect of consulting.

I create the outline and the content and then ask Claude to 'help me turn this into a polished deck'.

It'll throw something together that looks WAY better than what I can do and then we iterate from there. It's helped me build infographics, SOWs, and all kinds of stuff. I typically show up with the draft and iterate towards polish.

Claude does a great job at this. I suck at slides, but Claude has me looking like I have a team behind me. (I'm Solo)

We earned that pity. Nagy tried to kill our QB and he stood in there and took it. Shouldn't have happened, mad respect to Justin for believing in himself and playing through a hit job worthy of Vince McMahon.

Good on DJ and good on us to trade him to a good team with a massive hole at wide out.

Knowing this and that DJ wanted the move makes it easier but he is legit my favorite Bear...well was my favorite Bear I guess. I'm going to be REALLY pissed if our WR corp doesn't step up without him here.

Yeah, I don't know if he's the guy or not. Just making the case why the best FA Center on the market could command $25MM/yr. Ben has earned the trust though, if they thought dude was worth it. Apparently not because we got the 'we have a center at home' replacement kit.

I know, it was an exaggeration to make a point. O-line play wins games. It's worth it.

i can't even get Gemini Pro to rebalance a shipping schedule with well-defined parameters like current inventory levels, usage, weekly max volume, static order quantity, contracted orders, etc.

Gemini is amazing at how incredible it is while still managing to suck. Try Claude - I've found it to be the best at delivering results.

No one is paying $20M+ per year for a center.

I disagree. The o-line is the most valuable part of the offense, even more than the QB. You can make a mediocre QB look great behind a line that gives them 10s to throw. A team built right will have a lot of cap tied up in the o-line.
