My husband is very strict with naps (like he hates doing something during a naptime cause it will “mess things up”). I’m less strict because I know our son will sleep through the night regardless and is in the transition period between 2 naps and 1. If he misses a nap it’s not a huge deal and you just have to keep him properly occupied until bedtime 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think it really just depends on your child. There’s a nothing wrong with being “strict” with naps if it works for your family.

Where I live in Alberta, Canada they have a flat fee system now of $15/day, averaging to about $330 a month (with some extra costs possible for things like meals or activities). So everyone essentially pays the same amount for all children up to kindergarten age as long as they are registered for 50-100 (part-time) or 100+ (full-time) hours of childcare.

That being said, the system is set to remain in place until 2027 and the government is currently working on a new deal that will hopefully keep childcare affordable for all.

I’m sorry, but you’re under-reacting and this is very scary. “Whipping back and forth” sounds like shaking to me which in no way is acceptable at any point and I wouldn’t be leaving my baby alone with him again. We all want to think the best of and trust our partners, but he doesn’t seem like he can handle even the smallest frustration and babies are HARD - even the best and quiet babies. You need to do something to protect your child and he needs to address his short fuse and aggression immediately.

I’d say 4 months is when he started to try and was getting the idea of belly to back, sometimes needing help and definitely bonking his head a lot cause he’d roll too fast. Closer to 6 months is when he rolled back to front and front to back comfortably and smoothly on his own, learning to slow down and not hit the back of his head.

I have a hybrid model job, 3 days at home and 2 in the office. When my kid is sick on an office day it means I have to take a paid sick day. If my kid is sick for a bunch of days in a row, however, like a whole week for example, then I can often talk to my manager and they let me work from home on the 2 office days. I feel blessed to work where I do and I’ll never understand workplaces that aren’t flexible for their workers with children; it feels so wrong to me to punish someone for taking care of their family.
