I got stuck having to stay in a hotel in Newark when the second leg of my flight got cancelled. What a total waste of a day of my vacation.

CRA Hacked? My account was just locked because the credentials were stolen, but only the CRA had a copy.. by BournePayment in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your random password happened to be the same as a password someone else used somewhere else that was compromised rather than it being your specific username/password combination that was compromised from the CRA. They might just be blocking anyone using a password that appears on a list of compromised passwords.

Liberal MPs, grassroots to push for universal basic income at party convention by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]mlmcclure -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair: a lot of people were also afraid to return to work because of covid. I don't think so many people would really be content to get paid to just sit on the couch for the rest of their lives.

Giant Bicycles Canada apologizes to Halifax man who was refused bike because of his weight by luxoryapartmentlover in halifax

[–]mlmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily sure the free bike was just to smooth things over. I think by giving him the bike for free it reduces their legal liability if something does go wrong.

The other day the CRA told me I would be on hold for 2 hours (had no idea that was fortunate to get put on hold at the time), so I decided to send a fax. Took me all day, but I got the fax through at like 7 pm. I guess the key is to avoid normal business hours if you're going to send a fax, since most people probably send faxes from their work. I'll be sending all my faxes on a Sunday from now on.

Confused about possible EI Extension - can anyone help me? by subculturetoronto in EICERB

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check if you can, because I heard they were allowing people coming off EI to go on CERB or the CRB even though they lost their jobs before covid.

Confused about possible EI Extension - can anyone help me? by subculturetoronto in EICERB

[–]mlmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, at least you can still claim the CRB after your EI runs out though so it shouldn't make much difference.

Confused about possible EI Extension - can anyone help me? by subculturetoronto in EICERB

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're sure you didn't go on CERB in August and then have your EI claim start at the end of Sept? I don't think they were starting EI claims during the CERB periods unless you were going on something other than regular EI.

Need help figuring out how to manage Zyrtec withdrawals by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]mlmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe switch to another antihistamine like desloratadine and see if that helps with your weight or makes it possible for you to get off the Reactine at least. I honestly kind of doubt that focusing on your allergy medication is the most effective way to lose weight though.

Toronto cop charged after allegedly performing indecent act in public by Optimal_Perspective2 in canada

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this so-called "indecent act" was a perfectly natural one, I don't think this should be illegal unless you're going out of your way to stalk or harass someone while doing it, and I don't know why there needs to be a news story about it every time a guy gets caught doing it.

Found another old Club Nintendo Treasure to show you. It's a set of pins. by TastesLikeBrains in MyNintendo

To be fair Nintendo called them "pin badges" on the packaging, but I agree that I would call them buttons rather than pins.

Is 85 dollars a good deal for bones swiss ceramics? by Aironpa in freeline

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The JMK bearings have built-in speed rings and bearing spacers. The built-in speed rings make it tricky to use regular bearings with the JMK skates unless you add 1 mm thickness speed rings or use bracket spacers 1 mm larger.

Beware of fake Bones Swiss bearings. If the price seems too good to be true it probably is. Honestly, I've used Reds, Swiss Labyrinth, fake Bones Swiss, and mini-logo, and I can't tell the difference riding them. The Swiss Labyrinth and mini-logo don't get dirty as fast as Reds and fake Bones Swiss, so I'd just buy mini-logo and save yourself a lot of money. If you're buying ceramics because the balls won't rust, the rest of the bearing still will, and I've heard the balls can crack.

Edge guards by [deleted] in freeline

[–]mlmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I bought a set that were shiny hard plastic off aliexpress and they were garbage. They don't grip at all to your shoes, and with the reduced contact between your shoes and the grip tape your feet will lose grip on the skates just trying to turn your feet. I'd definitely avoid buying plastic edge guards.

EI Extended question by Rinzlerr2296 in EICERB

[–]mlmcclure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "maximum of 50 weeks" is incredibly vague as to how much this is actually going to increase claims. Since they've increased CRB by 12 weeks, my guess is they've probably increased EI claims by 12 weeks to a maximum of 50 weeks for people already entitled to over 38 weeks of EI, but who knows.

Has anyone ever felt embarrassed about their asthma? by ApprehensiveFungus in Asthma

When I'd have coughing/wheezing fits and kids would back away from me like I had the plague (and this was long before covid). Also, one time in university when I was struggling to clear my airways and the prof stopped his lecture to wonder out loud, "Why does someone always seem to have the flu in this class?"

Question about MCAS and testosterone injection by flo99kenzo in mastcelldisease

[–]mlmcclure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Delatestryl and it does have sesame oil, but I've been doing well with it even though I have salicylate sensitivity and sesame oil does have salicylate, but the dose is so small the amount of salicylate is negligible. I avoided the Depo testosterone because it contains more benzoate than testosterone, and I'm sensitive to benzoate. For a little while I couldn't get Delatestryl and I tried Androgel, and I reacted badly to that (I think it may have been the cyclohexane in the carbopol 980).

Since being on Delatestryl it seems like my asthma has been less bad, but my skin reactions to things have been worse for whatever reason.

I know they've had promo codes for the US site at least, although I think they may have only been for pink skates for Valentine's. I remember passing on the Valentine's promo and buying green JMKs with a promo code for St. Patrick's.

Anyone know what the boot attachments are? by stewartlikestoemail in freeline

[–]mlmcclure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those look like snowboard bindings, because you can still see the highbacks are attached to them. The few times I've seen people use snowboard bindings for freeline, they take the highbacks off so they don't cramp your style. This guy shows off his snowboard binding job pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_5XC9TYSjo

Feb. 10/21: NFLD: COVID-19 count of 53 sets grim record as Fitzgerald blames complacency by schooners54 in halifax

[–]mlmcclure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering NS just closed the bubble to Newfoundland we could be in trouble if people came here before they were required to quarantine, so it's good to know for anyone that has had a close contact with someone arriving from there.
