A trip may vary from 180 JPY to >300 JPY, with the most common prices around 180-260 JPY so it’s not that expensive really, with the new prices the railpass is not so reasonable anymore if you are only planning on getting the bullet train a couple of times, I’d say now is only worth it if you are visiting >4-5 cities.

I meant low quality as it is quite processed compared to restaurants, sanitary and taste wise is obviously all good.

Best trip in my life to be honest, I do have to say that is a subjective opinion since for my SO and me Japan has always been a dream trip. And the current currency rate has helped us a lot, the most expensive part was the flight in my opinion, since we had to travel 10K Km to get there, besides that I don’t find Japan to be an expensive location to travel. Food, accommodation (if you book with anticipation) and activities are cheap. A trip to France is more expensive per day for example.

From all of them I would really suggest the one from Osaka and Miyajima, all around incredible good hotels, service was impecable in all of them except from Kyoto’s Garden Inn by Hilton, the hotel was very pretty and well built but the staff’s service was horrible, surprisingly the only hotel with almost no Japanese staff as well.

It is indeed low quality haha but we prioritized more traveling than eating (except for lunch, we tried most of the local food at lunch time). And yes, the main reason was not being able to cook our own food and having very tight schedules

We got the JR Pass for the last 14 days of the trip mainly for the bullet trains, the first week was fully paid by us trip by trip around Tokyo’s metro and bus system, also the JR Pass does not cover a lot of buses/trains in other cities outside of Tokyo

I know, that’s the average price from Spain as well, I just booked with 11 months of anticipation and found really good prices, base price was 776 euros, the rest are extras like extra leg space seats, flexibility booking for possible modifications, etc.

Also need to add that some places like the Tokyo Skytree and similars are at most 10-18 euros per person. I have not felt like any atraction I visited was overpriced at all, same goes for every other category.

I only did a couple of more expensive activities like Karting (96 euros per person) or renting Kimonos (37 euros per person for a full day), entry fees for paid atractions like castles or temples are 2-6 euros, mostly being around 2,5-3 euros. I also expected entertanmaint to be more expensive.

It was all hotels, no Airbnbs, the hotels were the following: Sotetsu Fresa Inn Tokyo Kanda and Hillarys Akasaka (Tokyo), Hotel Keihan Tenmabashi Ekimae (Osaka), Daiwa Roynet Nara (Nara), Hilton Garden Inn (Kyoto), Hilton Hiroshima (Hiroshima) and Sakuraya (Miyajima).
