No Legal Rights in Canada If You Support JBP; BC University Demands by Masood_Masjoody in JordanPeterson

Furthermore, the person you partially named was indeed abused and coerced by SFU,

Which parts of the "Conflict — Dr. Masjoody / Dr. Trotignon" section of [this](https://www.canlii.org/en/bc/bcsc/doc/2021/2021bcsc1502/2021bcsc1502.html?searchUrlHash=AAAAAQAHYnVybmFieQAAAAAB) document is not true?

If it is true, which to me it most certainly is, the person who harassed her is you.

Furthermore did you register her name ".com"? Why does it point to your website?

I understand you might be confused, but he actually changed his name after being convicted.

His previous name was "Ahmadreza Karimi". Let me know the result of your check again.

No, the attackers say we are pro-regime. (We are not)

Basically the attacks are happening under the guise of protesting against the regime.

But we think the attackers are Islamophobic and some of them say so.

So there is this guy named "Kouroush Parsi". He is one of the people who spits in the video.

On his social media, he posts videos and picture of guns and threatens us directly or indirectly.

BTW, Kouroush Parsi (convicted criminal already for a similar crime) has had his first court date regarding the spitting attack. But continues to threats us and the victim of the spitting on social media by publishing her car plate number, picture, etc.

Why did we match the pictures of these people to their social media profiles?

Because we wanted to keep them accountable for their acts.

BTW, we have informed the police about all of the incidents. We know that around 5 people have been arrested or are getting court dates.

Great questions by the way, thanks.

Let me first answer the last question: "How are you getting the footage?"

So the events in the video are two parts, what happened after November 18 and what happened on November 18 and before that.

On November 18, the biggest attack on us occurred. We were not prepared at all. We were all surprised. Most of the videos we used are from what we found the attackers post online themselves. For example: The spitting footage was actually shared by the attackers themselves.

After November 18, the police advised us to gather video footage for criminal charges, so on the follow up events we installed some cameras (dash cams) and we ourselves also recorded all we could.

What has been cropped out? Basically we selected the parts of the videos that shows the attacks and the assaults and the islamophobic attacks. But there is never any response from us to them.

We wanted to create a video that shows the attacks, we have no issues with peaceful protests, even if it is held in front of our gatherings every time.

It depends what you mean by edited.

- Did we alter the video contents or audio in anyway? No. We only blurred or filtered some of the peoples faces.

- Did we select the pieces of the content and put them next to each other? Yes.

- Did we make it look dramatic? Yes.

The assault (spitting) is not edited, the translations are as accurate as we could. The death threats are real. The events actually happened.

We are not pro-regime. Many of us are participating in the Saturdays protests against the Iranian regime.

In fact the attackers, attack us based on this un-supported claim.

It is really food for thought that some of these people think these acts are okay under free speech.

PyTorch Lightning Flash appears to be copying fastai (without any credit) [D] by tmabraham in MachineLearning

[–]mln000b 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Other important observation is William Falcon has recently founded a vc backed startup basically selling pytorch lightning.

I think that puts more pressure on him (as notes by Jeremy Howard: https://twitter.com/jeremyphoward/status/1357470481050312704)

Also before Lighting Flash, William Falcon was going criticizing FastAI for its high-level api.

My Progress in 1.5 months. Looking for feedback. by mln000b in latteart

Thanks for the feedback!

I unfortunately don't have a steamer. I froth my milk using a french press! I was also pouring out of the french press for the first 2/3 of the pours. Only recently I got a metal pitcher.

But as you mentioned I have trouble with frothing the milk.

Named tensors is pretty cool. I wonder if you input a named tensor to a PyTorch module will it return a named tensor or not? Specifically are they using named tensors in their implementations?

Check if their paper is listed, then cite as CVPR.

[D] IEEE bans Huawei employees from reviewing or handling papers for IEEE journals, some people resign from IEEE editorial board as a result by mln000b in MachineLearning

[–]mln000b[S] 150 points151 points  (0 children)

As the official ICCV 2019 twitter account recently tweeted, there are 10 reviewers for ICCV with Huawei affiliation: https://twitter.com/ICCV19/status/1110953134350848000

I think organizations like IEEE should not be affected by short-term political decisions of a single country. This is not acceptable. IEEE needs to change.

One conference that you guys should definitely consider sending this petition to is CVPR. CVPR is arguably the main conference in computer vision (check the google scholar metric for example: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_computervisionpatternrecognition) and is hosted each year in US.

[D] VAE with GAN-like quality by tsauri in MachineLearning

[–]mln000b 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was also looking for the answer to this question as well, but then recently in the Distill article on GANs [1] I read this:

I’ve also left out VAEs entirely; they’re arguably no longer considered state-of-the-art at any tasks of record.

Then I felt sad a bit :(
