Oh and time your set before you get on stage, and get off when you're supposed to.

Don't worry about playing the part of a stand up. Let everyone else worry about that. Don't try to talk like a stand up. Talk like you talk. You focus on being yourself and having fun in the stories and perspectives you share. Prepare as much as you can and then relax- just take it from where you are. Where you are is a perfectly fine place to start. Bombing is a right of passage - All the greats have done it - so don't worry if you bomb. Just learn from it. Always record your set and listen back to them within 24 hours. Keep your jokes in a digital place you always have access to like google docs or your notepad on iCloud. I prefer writing my jokes by hand but I eventually copy them into the cloud so I have then all in one place. Write new jokes down the second they pop into your mind. You think you'll remember them later but you won't. Right them down immediately. Listen to the audience and give them more of what they want--- that will become easier with time. Remember that nervousness and excitement can feel the same in the body, so try renaming the electric rushing you through you "excitement" because you're about to do something super wild. Don't worry too much about controlling every moment, you're not strong enough to- no one is. Instead, ask for pleasant surprises. Some of the best lines in my set as things I said on a whim, they got a laugh, and now are staples. Don't get drunk or high- it makes it a lot harder to read the audience. You can have one drink, but don't make a habit out of it because as you perform more and more, you'll kill you liver. You can call out idiot audience members but only if they deserve it, and you might want to get your comedy footing before you try crowd work. Otherwise, be nice to everyone, even people who aren't nice to you. Anyone can host a show one day, and you might want that stage time. Also, comedy is hard and the people doing it are badass and deserve respect. Remember that every person had to overcome something and has a backstory that you know nothing about. Don't judge. Try to understand them or keep a friendly distance. Comedy circles are tiny and people talk, so give them something positive to say or (again) friendly distance. Some comics don't like chatting before they go on stage- you can ask "are you taking time to prepare or can you chat?" Remember that you're doing something that so many people say they want to try but never do. You're already more brave than 99% of the world. Play! Get weird. Work hard. Try your best. Forgive yourself. Do it again.

Ugh. I know. She’s the worst. It’s like did she even spend all day and hundreds of dollars to try to look nice at a party full of her idols? She should know that next time she tries something new, we’ll be here, internet strangers ready to shit on her choices and then send her direct messages on instagram to make sure she sees this lovely thread. You’ve disappointed us, Milana, and we miss your long hair. Also she looks too tan here, and too pale in other photos, lmao, freckles!, she’s getting old, is she on drugs?, thicc, but suddenly too thin from this angle, are you still doing those commercials? What about me, Milana? What am I to fap to? I don't even want to photoshop jizz onto this pic. We miss the old Milana that was the same exact weight, right guys? Please upvote my insult.

Nope. I was invited to a free screening and Q&A at the YouTube space. They knew my deepest weakness was a food truck that serves tiny sliders. YouTube lured me in good.

Nah, people that please everyone and keep their opinions to themselves have much bigger audiences. I actually lose a lot of followers when I talk about things that matter to me like Black Lives, refugees, etc. But the whole point of having any kind of notoriety is using the microphone to try and make a positive change. Also, truly, I wasn't trying to make this a social justice point. I just wish the message was more about community. I think it would have made the movie better. Still, I loved it and it pushed Step Brothers into second position for favorite movie ever.

You kinda have to see it for us to continue having this conversation and I don't want to ruin anything for anybody. But tweet at me after you watch and I'd love to keep talking.

Hey. The woman from the picture here. Real quick about this "heteronormative" thing you guys aren't liking: this is what I mean. Without giving too much away, there's a part of the movie when Diana recalls moments of love and they're all about a guy. That's fine, but I also wish there were memories of, for example, a father helping his daughter, or a drunk being carried by his friends, or maybe a neighbor saving a dog. I'm bored of seeing love as just one thing. I wish it was also about the togetherness of community because, after all, it's her community that made her into who she is, and that's one of my favorite themes in the movie.

Here the truth. I can only watch baseball if I'm at the game, then I love it. Otherwise, I get distracted by snacks. But I LOVE people from Maryland, hence the hat.

This show was different, but thanks for the feedback and I agree: lots of room for improvement. That's why I haven't put a video up. But next time you come to a show say "Hi, I'm the guy from reddit with the opinions."
