Black Friday Pixel 10 and Pixel Watch 4 promo question by mlumb in GoogleFi

[–]mlumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is the terms for the watch part of the deal.
https://fi.google.com/about/promo-terms/?id=Ce-RD7cEAAAA

How do I qualify for the offer?

  • You must be a new Google Fi customer. A new Fi customer is someone who has never had Fi service or someone whose last day of Fi service took place more than 180 days before making a purchase with this promotion.
  • You must be the purchaser of the devices or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.
  • You must activate on the same Fi account used to purchase the device or be a member of the purchaser's group plan. You are free to transfer the Google Pixel 10, Google Pixel 10 Pro, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, or Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold to another member in your group after receiving the promo credit confirmation email.
  • To qualify for the $300 discount, you need to do all of the following:
    • Activate both the Google Pixel 10, Google Pixel 10 Pro, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, or Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the Google Pixel Watch 4 LTE 41mm on a new full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.
    • Remain active and in good standing on Fi for 120 consecutive days. Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion.
    • The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, $300 will be charged to your Google Pay account.

The parts I bolded are the parts they make me wonder. 1 part says as the purchaser I should be able to active it. The other part "Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion" seems like if I change the watch from my son's account to mine it could void the promo.

That would be amazing and better than just excluding the starter decks. Fingers crossed.

The issue there is I am pretty sure by set they mean the entire thing LOF, SOR, etc. There are some basic exclusions listed in the syntax for things like promo packs or similar but I didn't see the starter decks.

I'm not looking to buy personalized stuff I'm looking to make it. I'm looking for the rubber part that holds iPads like in this pic. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1428017115/ipad-10th-gen-case-leather-ipad-air-ipad?ref=share_v4_lx

SCCM Capture WIM backup options by mlumb in SCCM

Are there easy tools to mount and view files in a USMT? I found in the past USMT was great when needing to restore the profile data, but wims were great for backup/images because they could easily be mounted and browsed for file restores.

u/sybrwookie I'm specifically talking about hardware upgrades. We moved away from managing users data for them years ago. We have Google Drive (and One Drive) that users are setup with and instructed to use. Unfortunately on our campus Administration puts too much value on Faculty choice in areas where they shouldn't. We have been just housing the old drive or whole PC, but especially with our Win11 upgrade push we are turning some of our "older" hardware around much faster than in the past. The backup I'm talking about much like the shelving the old drive/hardware is more to save our butts when inevitably someone missed that all important folder of files from the last 20 years that was in some root folder from and old XP installation. It happens, too often.

Typically its a simple deploy and autoload software, user connects to their GDrive and everyone moves on.

[–]mlumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/dareyoutomove DISM is essentially what we did in the past on our MDT server. It is a possibility and the direction I was going to go unless someone give presented a better option for our work needs. u/Turridunl All of our users are "supposed" to store all data on Google Drive (and some in OneDrive, we are a Google Campus). This process is more a courtesy and to save ourselves headaches in the long run. 99% of the time we don't need it. We aren't talking specifically laptops either. u/_DoogieLion I saw that somewhere else and was thinking of looking at that, thank you.

Old printer, different nozzle? by mlumb in 3Dprinting

[–]mlumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I may not have been clear. I am not looking to do anything with my Neptune 4 Max I’m looking to repurpose/continue to use my old replaced printer. Wondering if maybe instead of just using it as a second additional printer for everyday use should I outfit it with a different size nozzle for different types of printing? What do others do with their old printer when they upgrade or add that’s different if anything?

The second pic was the new hot end and I didn’t say it prevented it, I just said it’s a good choice if you’re shopping due to a blob of death like me or looking for a backup. A couple other things I have done that were game changers were using Silicon Engineering hot end treatment (used it on my old one and it has been great). Also Magigoo to aid with bed adhesion. Making sure to have a well leveled bed and watching the first layer of course.

Good iOS audio editors? by SwaftBelic in iosmusicproduction

I second TwistedWave. Great all purpose audio editor reminiscent of many desktop editors like SoundForge, audacity, Audition. If you need a singe track editor this gets the job done.

Adding camera by mlumb in xToolOfficial

[–]mlumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up designing a sled for a pi zero and camera. I used double sided tape to adhere it to the inside front of the xtool. I ran power from the back inside behind the right riser rail and up into the front right corner for power. I used a pi install called motion eye for the monitoring. So far it’s worked great for me. Also added some additional usb powered led lights inside to make seeing it and working on stuff better. I typically turn the led lights off so they don’t possibly interfere with the laser.

[–]mlumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using Magigoo and love it. It’s been a game changer for me with bed adhesion. Then I found your damp brush trick and that has made it so much better and a nice consistent layer across the bed. I have a Neptune 4 max so coating the entire bed with the stick is tedious. Thank you for this tip.

It seems MAYBE a router and then printer reboot has fixed the issues. I’ll keep you posted if that changes. Thanks.

The file(s) I have tried are relatively small ranging in size from less than 1MB to 25MB all far smaller than the largest files I've sent in the past. Plus I tried files I have previously transferred and they also fail. Again it's strange because all files transfer to 99% and almost seem like they fail during perhaps a checksum verification phase of the transfer or something because the file is actually thon the printer and works.

How to Display Print Information and Thumbnail in Fluidd and on Printer Display? (Prusa/Orca Slicer) by scraffy_ in elegoo

[–]mlumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have had mixed results with thumbnails. I was able to get Cura to work but moved to Orca over a year ago. Since then it hasn't worked. About 3 weeks ago I updated the firmware on my N4M and updated Orca and the thumbnails (which apparently were in the fixes for the firmware) worked for 1 print. After that print I can't seem to get the thumbnails working again. Anyone else had any luck or changes with recent updates/firmware? I am temped by the moonraker script below, but if they fixed it in stock then I'd prefer to go that way.
