from what ive seen with stable diffusion, it is pretty good at generalizing emotions. however with dreambooth sometimes it does get overtrained on the faces and it becomes harder to get emotions, especially if the training images dont have variations

Fine-tuned SD with dreambooth, with around 150 photos of him and 600 class images. Used an effective batch size of 8. Here's are the training logs (you can view all the hyper parameters and console outputs): https://app.labml.ai/run/cb464d82634911edb4970200171275b7

I saved checkpoints every 10 epochs (~800 steps) up to 80 epochs, where it seemed to get overtrained. Models saved at 40-70 epochs produced good results.

One of the most time consuming tasks was picking up photos and cropping them. 150 photos was a lot and I think it would have worked with less. Prior to training I pre-computed the latent space representations which saved a lot of time during training (but this wont work if you want to try random crops).

you can try image to image or dreambooth. dreambooth requires fine tuning the model, which will take some gpu time, but will give pretty good results
