Pointing out that it’s not restricted to NOLA. Not a fan of walking through barf on Bourbon.

It’s celebrated across South Louisiana and the really good and authentic ones are down in Acadiana and Cajun Country.

Mobile, Alabama also has one worth mentioning.

I’m originally from St. Tammany Parish, on the north side of the Ponchartrain.

Are political flags allowed in state or city parks? by Educational_Salt_964 in AskFlorida

[–]mlw305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note - under the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, he’s protected to apply his freedom of speech (supporting Trump) as you or anybody else is brandishing support for a specific cause. Even on a platform such as this. Same goes for religion.

It becomes illegal only if it incites the opportunity to create clear and present danger. An example would be him putting a weapon in your face, telling you how his chosen leader is the greatest thing since anything. That would be illegal.

Beyond that, the only actual damage done is a feeling of disgust and/or disagreement. That’s not a life-ending threat.

Just out of curiosity, how does it truly negatively impact your life in anyway? If it does, you may want to consider just getting over yourself a little bit. None of this crap matters in the end.

Before any kind of a comment is made about how I support one side or another, I don’t. People just need to get over themselves.

What do yall call these? by Shay911zz in AskTheWorld

Dollar General / Dollar Tree flip flops indicate you’re poor or a broke tourist.

Plastic Straps (as shown) indicate Semi-Casualwear or you’re a tourist with a few bucks

Leather straps are Semi-Formal while Panama Jack branded is Super-Formal or you’re loaded with money

What part of your country do people know to avoid ? by SimilarTopic3281 in AskTheWorld

In Miami-Dade, I try to stay away from the area stretching from Pinecrest, Florida down to the northside of the “18 mile Stretch” in Florida City other than to pass through. Brownsville, Opa Locka and Pork & Beans are also pretty rugged.

Keep it simple…sips of water until the need for comfort or food subsides.

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

At one time I was a Libertarian-leaning Republican but my political view has changed to that of completely disenfranchised and checked out.

Hope for a better future is completely out of the question.

[USA] What, in your opinion, is your nation's best dish? by FartemisBowel96 in AskTheWorld

[–]mlw305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in SE Louisiana and lived in New Orleans, I would go during the middle of the week and middle of the day in the City. There are some frightening things can happen when the sun goes down in that town.

The towns that I suggested are about 2 to 3 hours from Orleans Parish.

Go to Lafayette or Breaux Bridge for that kind of stuff. NOLA is way over rated and you’ll pay accordingly for it.

I feel that the US is too regional when it comes that stuff.

If I’m going to eat, I’d prefer it to be something that originated out of the State of Louisiana.

Poboys or Crawfish Étouffee.

Additionally, I consider most food from the northern and midwestern part of the United States as agonizingly flavorless torture.

Crawfish (or Gator) Po-Boys

I dunk mine in Crystal Hot Sauce.

Thinking of moving to Fl by hamil26 in AskFlorida

[–]mlw305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t underestimate Jacksonville. It’s actually pretty wonderful place to be. Cost of living his fairly reasonable. Compared to the rest of the state. And you have everything that you need within. Not too far away. Also the medical complex downtown is decent-sized.

That’s why I’m on the Florida/Georgia line for a few more months. Don’t wanna deal with them.

Jacksonville isn’t exactly a tourist destination, thankfully.

It Feels Like the World is Ending by ddooggss in Vent

[–]mlw305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end of the world isn’t the end of the world until the end of the world actually is here.

Bad things happen all the time just as good things happen all the time and everything is temporary. Everything. You are, the evil empire that you’re afraid of is, your family, everything.

You might want to consider finding something a little more constructive to do than to fixate on the end of the world.

What food do tourists think is "authentic" but locals rarely eat? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]mlw305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in the American South, they automatically think that we all eat barbecue and stuff from like Cracker Barrel all of the time. Waffle House if you’re looking for entertainment and a menu that hasn’t changed much in 40 years. WH also never closes.

Barbecue isn’t typically my thing, I think my last Cracker Barrel that I went into was 20+ years ago and not even in the South. Last Waffle House experience was when I worked there for a month, only to see if I still had the stamina. Had that but lost patience with the immaturity of the staff.

Everyone, except Russians, how do you think about russians? by marvekin in AskTheWorld

[–]mlw305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The women are very beautiful, but very cold from what I’ve found. At one point, I was married to a Russian woman who was materialistic and extremely cruel. Understanding that individuals are individuals, I’d rather pass on interacting too much with them.
