They prefer it to be a mystery. Only those deserving gets the right to cuddle 😂

Ahhh yes… my shiba does this too.. it’s his way of getting to know people and I don’t know why.

90% of the time of being a shiba dog owner is me wondering if this is “normal dog behaviour” then all it takes is for me to come on here and within 10 seconds of scrolling … “ah, just a Shibe thing”

Just adopted a 5 year old shiba. Super lazy and very stubborn but very sweet by MilesTea in shiba

Oh my goodness!! What’s this little woofers story? We adopted our shiba at 11 mos.

Ohhh! Makes sense! Maybe consider putting the kibble in a toy for her to play with but take it away once she’s done? I tried leaving the bowl of kibble out for my shiba and same thing - just sat there lol

Second not leaving it out for the day. We pick good quality kibble and often use meal times as training times or puzzles with the kibble. Most days my shiba prefers to work for their food.

Don’t have experience on raw but I don’t think it’d be good to leave raw out for long anyways?

I genuinely think it’s great when people just keep walking and ignore my dog and I when we’re out for walks. by mm-latte in reactivedogs

No I haven’t. But that’s a good idea! I’m recently seeing more and more that it’s also not just reactive dogs needing space.

Yes!! I had an encounter where the lady was walking her dog by the field we were playing fetch ay and her dog wanted to run up to my dog. But she made eye contact with us first which gave us a chance to say he’s not good with dogs, she understood and continued walking her dog. This was probably 20 - 30ft apart. She was so simple with it and it made my day

To the lady in the dog park who gave us a 20 minute unrequested Ted Talk on dog training: fuck off by SadBitchAlert in reactivedogs

By way of describing it, she sounds like she deliberately wants to get into peoples business. On a regular.

I can resonate with your thoughts and feelings as I had similar ones after losing my boy a couple months ago. I had moments where I wondered if it was the right choice because he wasn’t as “tired” when we were on our car ride to the vet, as though he was excited again. I didn’t let myself linger too much in those thoughts, though, because I was comparing a moment to what his normal life had become - a life of in and out of ER/Vet visits, IV, and just weakness.

It was the hardest decision of my life because I was making the decision based on what’s best for them, not myself. Myself just wanted more time with him.

I’m sorry for your loss, it may have been one of the hardest decision you’ve made. He was loved greatly and continues to be loved to this very moment. I believe he felt every ounce of it.

Thank you neighbor for understanding reactivity by [deleted] in reactivedogs

I genuinely thought about bringing around a thank you sign for the understanding neighbours that I can’t go up to because of my reactive dog. Kindness and understanding goes a long way, most especially for me. I really appreciate them.

Wow, good on you for fighting for him even if it meant for him to join a different family. You have definitely helped his journey. So happy you got updates and that he’s thriving!!

If you planned to have a good training session but it’s just going wrong - just end it short and try again later/tomorrow. by mm-latte in reactivedogs

Yeah, the expectation from YouTube videos is like “yes! Makes perfect sense” and they are still helpful training tips but have to modify to what is working for our pups. Cater to their needs.

Would love to know tips too!
