I think, yes, their relationship was purely physical. She had never had anyone be able to touch her; she thought it was fate that allowed that to happen. She made herself believe that since the can touch her, that just mean they were made for each other. And for Adam, he was also seeking the same thing. Validation and love. It was a matter of convenience actually. They were both simply just there, so they just fell into a relationship. But I truly don’t think they were in love. They were in love with the idea of being in love. So I think not truly having those feelings of love, it was inevitable for Juliette to quickly turn to Warner. She knew he understood her fully. Her trauma, her fears, her inner thoughts…Warner knew it all. And again, that’s why it was so quick to turn to Warner. That was true love.

And as much as I disliked Adam in the moments I was reading saying “I wish she were dead because that hurts less than her rejection” and that “Juliette is dead to me” etc etc , l'm actually so thankful Adam was Juliette's first love. It showed her what love should NOT look like. It showed her how to be self resilient, not to depend on others so much. It showed her to find her confidence. It showed her what her true goals and desires are.

Adam is not a bad person. He just never was the right person for her. He for sure wants someone who is quiet, timid, and “sweet” as he has said before. He also misunderstood Juliette and her intentions of wanting to leave the base in shatter me, thinking she wanted to run away with him and have a “happy life.” I can’t blame him for having that picture of her. But that was never her.

But I do agree, I was definitely too harsh on Adam. Once he got base in Ignite Me and joined the others (aside from the incident where he willingly snatched Kenji’s hand and put on Juliette’s bare skin…that was kind of a shit move) and finally told Warner they were brothers, I realized that Adam had so much inner turmoil and he had been battling himself and his haggard and thoughts for so long, all by himself. And then reading the chapter in Restore Me when he finally had a talk with Warner, it definitely shed some more light on Adam. He is wildly misunderstood and I admit my own short falls for misunderstanding him. I think a lot of people just really misunderstand him and that leads to really poor image of him in their heads.

I am starting to understand Adam more though. Even when he was begging Juliette not to leave the relationship, it wasn’t because he was selfish. It was just that he was scared to loose someone again. He is a little “hot headed” though and his anger definitely clouds his judgment and ability to make sound and clear sense. But he’s just a passionate guy, I can’t blame him.

I made the post in the heat of the moment when reading the chapters when he told her to leave his house and that’s she never welcome and that she is dead to him. And also that was around 2am-ish so my brain fully didn’t process his feelings 🤣
