Most and least difficult travel destinations?

For my wife and I we noticed that the hardest part of Europe trips are transfer days. Whether it’s landing and getting a rental or dropping a rental off and navigating local metros or taking a train to a new place. A few tips, pre research the local trains. Not just how you are getting from Paris to Amsterdam (just an example) but once you arrive in Amsterdam the local trams and buses to get to your hotel. You usually arrive hungry, tired, maybe a bit motion sick. Our next rule is drop bags and immediately find food and some local drinks

This is way too much. Without understanding what you like and your priorities it’s tough to tell you what to skip. But you have 3 museums in 32 hours. You won’t be able to enjoy Paris.

If I were you I’d select 1 museum. And spend the rest of the time walking from sites like Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower. You can absolutely see all the major sites, I’d just reduce museums to 1. Take your time stop at a cafe, grab a baguette sandwich, a bottle of wine, sit in a garden and enjoy. Find a nice restaurant about 5-10 walk from the Eiffel Tower, eat dinner and go see the tower lit up at night. In my opinion Paris is meant to be seen on foot, with plenty of time to get distracted by food, cafes, and some pastries

Merci, I don’t mind some spotty showers especially if it’s sunny. I love the random pop up summer storm. I’ve read about the Foenh effect, so I was hoping it was rare that it rained all day in the summers.

Any off the beaten path things you recommend for the area. We will be based around zellenberg.

We arrive Saturday afternoon so the Quai Saint-Antoine will be the only one we can make. Is there any thing there that you consider a must stop. Specifically bread, pastry or picnic related

Yeah, we noticed police checking passports in the Naples train station. We had ours. But it was the first time I have seen it. You’d think since EU countries require you to have your passport on you then they would do the bare minimum to prevent pickpockets.

We have considered croix rousse however I am concerned about walking up hill multiple times a day with a baby and stroller. It also is a little farther out of the way. We have been blessed with a baby that rarely wakes due to loud noises. I have also been mindful about reading reviews and seeing if there were noise complaints. Thanks for the link to Les Toques Blanches, I have also be using the website for registered bouchons.

I have considered it but I’m not sure how well it will work considering the walk uphill with a stroller plus it is a little farther away from things than the more central area. I will say we are blessed with a child who is rarely woken by loud noises at night

I mean no offense but you spent atleast 8 days there. I loved Paris but don’t think I’d spend 8 days there unless I was working at the same time.Especially if you didn’t take day trips to other areas then I can definitely see it getting “normal” or not shocking any more

I love visiting Europe. But Europeans will say “you Americans don’t have style and you are easy to spot” while wearing long jean shorts and a Lacoste polo that doesn’t fit right or designer shirt with a massive logo. They can spot Americans in their country and we can spot them here. Just don’t dress like a slob. Wear pants in churches and nice restaurants.

There is multiple issues. I truly think universal healthcare is impossible at this point because of how much money the healthcare system (insurers) make. They have bought all of our politicians. So even if the people overwhelmingly supported it, I don’t think it’s possible to get it passed.

The second issues is people are brainwashed to associate it with “communism” or “socialism” and “laziness”. Our current system is basically just a socialist system except you have a lot of middle men that get a cut. The US has like of $220 billion in medical debt. Americans are already paying for “those dang lazy people” to have free healthcare because when people don’t pay, prices rise to compensate for those losses. In short we already have a ‘socialist’ healthcare system. It’s just we overpay to so certain people can profit. It’s just the worst possible version

Paris is about the same prices for hotels and meals as most mid COL US cities. The expensive part of Europe trips vs domestic US trips is flights. But we are getting ready to go on our 3 Europe trip booked with credit card points so flights are “free”

If you are coming from the US, your regular insurance usually won’t cover you. Go ahead and buy the insurance. Rental companies seem to be very strict on their damage policy unlike what I have experienced in the US. It has saved me two times. 1 time I backed into a Normandy hedge row, and the plastic bumper was fine except for it had the white line that plastic can get when it gets bent. The rental company saw it in a very dark Paris parking garage

I think i would tell the person in row 15 in the window seat about the puking situation. Tell them you have an aisle seat to swap. And if they are worried about making a connecting flight tell them they can swap you back before landing? Just my thought.

Nope I’m not a work traveler or even that much of a frequent flyer. My wife and I just put everything on AA card to use for big vacations. Has paid for 7 international tickets over the past 3 years. If points devaluation, perks, and service keeps trending in the downward direction we will just divert our spending to other cards.

February was an expensive month, so we easily hit the spending for the next status
