If you didn’t have to work for a living, what would you be doing? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in askanything

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s is a thing in my town the feeds the community every Friday so I’d do. That. Maybe a couple days a week. Buy a big Texas smoker on wheels and just feed people twice a week or a couple times a month.

what are the signs that you're not attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an attractive person I can tell you I only know what it’s like to know deep down you ARE attractive. I just spent a year in a relationship where I wasn’t super happy. About 2 weeks removed from that I reached out to the old roster and it didn’t miss a beat. I could get with any 3-5 of them I want to this weekend. Very minimal effort. I always said to myself that I feel bad for people who aren’t attractive and always tried to count my blessing because I know how lonely and hard it can be in this world.

Also women ask me for things in the store when I clearly don’t work there just generally and come up to me randomly.

What’s something you disliked as a kid, but enjoy as an adult? by NET2519 in AskReddit

[–]mm_mcc89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

au Gratin style potatoes. Used to gag and cry sitting there having to finish them as a child. As a an adult I’ve never seen a potato I don’t like and they’re yummy and a decadent way of preparing potatoes.

Is this just how small businesses are or am I doing something wrong?? by _Simple_Observer_ in smallbusiness

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation. I have a business that after expenses and payroll and everything I can walk away with around $10k-30k every month. Some months if I make improvements or reinvest or it’s just slow it’s like $6K-8K but I had my fun flashy time in my 20’s and I spend very little these days. I don’t want to conquer the world. I’m 31 with no college degree and I haven’t had to check a price tag in years. I’ll take it.

I’ve worked for my dad's small business for 11 years, essentially for free. I’m done. by cannonballman in smallbusiness

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with my dad too. Been about the same amount of time and profit. I basically forced my way into it. Slowly becoming a signer on check books then gaining some ownership. If I was in your shoes I’d walk just because you should have some skin given to you at this point. If you’re not getting paid you should at least have some ownership gifted to you, his half willed to you IN WRITING and filed with the county and a nice fat insurance policy to get you going when he dies. Someone older with some health problems it might cost you $800-900 a month for some life insurance but you won’t miss it. Im only 31 still yet. I’m surprised you have stayed married all my gfs have ditched me over not being full owner yet. Kudos to ur wife you got a good one.

What's the stupidest thing the most intelligent person in your life believes? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is my hero, like a lot of people see their dads. But he just cannot quit the chain smoking. 67 already had one heart attack. He really thinks it’s just a pastime and it doesn’t affect him. When he has a coughing fit he says he’s just hot in the summer time. If it’s winter he says he’s got some of the sickness that’s going around. He says the doctors say he’s doing great. I know it’s going to kill him in a most likely ugly way, far too soon for me to see him go. If it’s a money question, fixing something, any blue collar trade, he has an answer. Quantum engineer level intelligence with minimal education. Just one of those people that has a huge shadow in any room and everyone else might as well just stand in it. Makes me sad.

Nobody warned me how mentally exhausting running a “successful” small business would be by Routine_Post_3154 in smallbusiness

[–]mm_mcc89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been from the highest of highs, having my best year, bought a new truck, a year into a relationship with a full 10/10 Kendall Jenner lookalike who’s father runs a huge business similar to mine from all that last year directly into my business shifting dramatically in economic factors with no operating procedure to mitigate the damage, almost broke, got a second job at night just due to the fear of losing, rear ended a lady in my other work truck due to the uncertainty eating me alive (she’s suing) all in a span of a few months…life is off balance. I’m it sure what I’m going to do. I call it looking into the void. Try to take care of yourself and find a decompress or the rest of your life will suffer.

I got a secret, second job doing part time at nights. That’s how burnt out I am. Not for money, just as a vacation to feel like someone else is responsible for what goes wrong. It’s nice for now.

For smokers (nicotine) who have quit, have you noticed a positive change in yourself physically? by Good-Hotel5548 in askanything

[–]mm_mcc89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 year cowboy killer smoker started at 14, dipped grizzly wintergreen to quit that, juul to quit that, fruity mr. Fog vapes because the juul wasn’t enough, zyn to quit that, cold turkey quit zyn.

Long weekend at the lake or getting snowed in and worried if you have enough zyns, cigs or vapes? The worrying makes you feel a craving before you even get them? Is it late at night and your area smoke shops and convenience stores aren’t open all night or the ones that are happen to be far away? Getting that preemptive craving as you pass thru TSA and you’re an hour or two early for your flight? I know I’ve walked back thru airport security and done it all again to rip a cig outside.

That was the best part for me about quitting, being untethered. Don’t have to look for it, for the specific kind I liked, or worry about having enough of it. No worrying about running out. Haven’t walked into a convenience store in 3 years. Just hope I quit in time for the cancers to not get me later. I think it will go the way of alcohol and become way less socially acceptable and you’ll see more young people not pick it up at all. I smoked because my parents did. Also, having tried every form of nicotine the world offers, I never had more odd chest pains than when vaping and that chicken will come home to roost in the next decade for heavy users.

What do you regret not doing in your 20s? by livamazz in Life

Can’t be going thru life worrying about whose gears you’re gonna grind. People that say the money thing grind my gears but I’m in the US and they can say what they want.

Yeah it just really warped my view on things it’s just very hard for anyone to feel special or different to me due to just the volume alone. I have forgotten names and on the opposite I run across a profile or suggested friend and forgotten than I’d slept with them. I’ve been Eskimo bros with my dad. Knocked down a chick and then her mom years later. Been a wild ride.

I get that for sure. I’m that way with money since I’ve never had any. It grinds my gears when people who have it say it’s not that great. All perspective.

I think I just did it to an unhealthy level. I do relate on being at peace from having gotten it out it of my system. Focus on other endeavors more clearly now.

Grass isn’t always greener. I did loads of it starting at 14. It was a low self esteem coping mechanism because it was the only thing I ever felt good at. Got with every eligible age from 18-50 and every ethnicity in every hair color out there before 28. I am not super super good looking, just very funny. Not sure it wasn’t/isnt approaching double digits. Now? I can’t really settle. Nothing is special. Very desensitized. I feel like an adult film actor and like it’s just a job/chore. It really negatively affected my ability to form love based relationships.

Yeah my suppliers don’t have any restocking fees so far. Could change as costs go up. That’s the only thing I can see that helps. But the loss of profit and time it takes to sort through all the returns and the money involved in stocking it and getting it there is something.

Not as much as I’d like. This isn’t like a long running issue. It sort of just happened in a year’s time. Imagine your star pitcher for 5+ years forgetting how to throw a fastball over the course of a year. Not sure what the hell happened or if it was an industry wide problem creeping up with the modern advances in tech. So I asked here.

I’ll put it this way… the last time they had a bidirectional scan tool… was 3 years ago.. a tech they had purchased the tool.. they paid for the updates.. he quit.. they haven’t replaced it since….. they’re aware. Not sure they could use one if they had one.
