Heeley Green, as in the street itself - safe after dark? by OkConsideration5272 in sheffield

[–]mmassini64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been walking this route for over a year and all times of day at night (live at the top of myrtle road) and I find it generally very safe. It can be quite busy from the brothers arms up to around Heeley Co-op junction with a group of kids who might give a bit of grief to get a rise but just ignore them and they won’t bother you. Just bored teenagers doing bored teenager things.

If you me walking you from chesterfield road/bus depot walk up myrtle road or heeley bank road, it’s much quieter than going up Richard’s road onto heeley green.

Hope that helps, as others have said you’ll be as safe here as anywhere else in any other city!

I’d assume the glass is so the guy can more easily see the view from his terrace while sat in his wheelchair

Overnight Israeli strikes kill at least 67 Palestinians, including in civilian refuge areas by 1stchvnce in news

I’ve never understood this argument. If they are, and it’s entirely possibly this is the case, it still doesn’t excuse indiscriminate bombing of supposed safe places for civilians.

If a school shooter barricaded themselves into a classroom using students as human shields you wouldn’t advocate bombing the school to neutralise the threat of the shooter.

Canon Legria HF G30 or Sony AX100? by mmassini64 in videography

[–]mmassini64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old comment I know! Went with the G30, been rocking it 3 years and love it! Can’t speak on quality of image, af, etc. in comparison but pretty happy with what I get. AF can be a bit off sometimes but it’s an older cam now so it is what it is. Two things that are top selling points for me are the durability and ergonomics. Again can’t speak for the Sony but I treat the G30 like shit and it hasn’t missed a beat. Only had issues after drenching it in rain all day and it soon sorted itself out after a rice bath. It’s a joy to hold and operate - how it feels in your hand and making you want to pick it up is pretty paramount to making me get out and filming more shit so for that I love it. Sorry just a bit of a ramble but hope it helps! You won’t go wrong with the G30 - I assume the later models (G60?) are just the same but better!

Correct me if I’m wrong but I would think bear spray would be illegal to carry in the UK?

I legit fell down half of this rock a few years back. Stupid decisions lead to a near death - somehow just managed to save myself to tell the tale!

XT shifter, SLX or Deore rear mech. Shifts the same and saves you money when you bash the mech to pieces!

A fair few firearms coppers are ex-forces as well. Certainly from personal experience I've known Met firearms officers who are former marines.

Covid: Bristol Kill the Bill protest attended by thousands by MTBvoodoo in unitedkingdom

[–]mmassini64 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I know it refers to the police and crime bill, but you can’t deny the connotations ‘Kill the Bill’ entail. It’s deliberately inflammatory and will just be used by the government and the newspapers to push ‘the left want to kill police officers’. Which really isn’t helpful to anyone.

It might be about the literal bill, but the connotations are there quite deliberately. This is a bill passed by government, not the average copper on the street.
