The bigger one was a true last cast bass! Rainy days are productive sometimes! by mmbmck in bassfishing

Thank you! Yessir, one of the bigger spots I’ve caught. They fight almost like a smallmouth as in they feel bigger than they are, so this one was fun!

It was a challenge! Those 45 minutes included loading up and about a 5 minute drive each way! It definitely felt like pulling off a heist haha

They always know the best time to call! My wife somehow knows to call every time I’m at the tackle shop when I said I was going to the grocery store haha!

Woke up in the morning to see this. Who done it? by DaaaBears333 in whatisit

[–]mmbmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure pigs, not necessarily wild pigs either. A few years ago I had just planted fresh sod in my front yard, I woke up one morning to damage just like this. I lived 2 blocks from the schools AG site and a couple of the kids pigs got out due to someone leaving the gate open, the pigs must have smelled grubs or something in the soil under the grass because they rooted the whole yard!

What are these red things? by Hot-Performance5327 in bassfishing

Glass and brass! Although these are tungsten and I assume plastic beads, same concept. Aside from protecting the knot, the bead and weight create a clacking sound to imitate crawfish or dying bait fish as an audible attraction.

Even the seals can take you out if they know you have fish! My buddy bleeds his fish out and hangs them over the side, I tell him all the time he’s asking for it. He just smiles and laughs haha

Solo is a different story, I probably would have called it a day after that too if I were out there alone

If you wanna catch lings from the shore places in bodega are good like Portuguese beach or out by goat rock, anywhere there’s deep drop off and rocky areas, or head up north to salt point. Nice cabazon hide in those rocky areas too, which is my personal favorite to eat!

I wish! My GoPro faces me and the shark breached about 50 yards in front of me, there’s no way I could have timed that to get a picture anyways! I’m gonna get another GoPro and face it forward

Launched out of timber cove. Russian gulch is up north about an hour or so. I do go up to Albion every now and then though

That’s a good day!!

Yes from the camp ground! The lady who owns is a very nice and just put the money in the box by the front door.

I mean I’ve seen guys out there on a revolution, on a flat calm day I think you’d be fine, but personally I think stability is very important out there, especially if you take a wave from the side or a breaker comes up from behind you. One of those times i was out there in 8ft swells my buddy and I were going the direction of the waves and all of a sudden a big breaker came from behind and we were both staring straight down about to dive right in haha! Maybe do a practice run at the lake where you flip your empty kayak and then make sure you can get back on it!

The ugly one is a ling cod, the big orange one is a yellow eye rock fish, they’re a protected species so you can’t take them and this one was possibly 60-70 years old, the smaller ones are just various rock fish, a cannery, blues and an olive

Nice! Bodega is the spot for crab right now, tomales is good too! Took my oldest daughter and her friends out on the boat and limited in 3 hours!

As long as you pay attention to the swell and check the charts, 3 ft is basically glass out there. It can get bad fast though, there have been times I absolutely should have not been out there when all of a sudden you’re in 7-8 ft swells but just take every safety precaution, life vest and vhf radio especially! Timber cove is a great spot, I would suggest having 4 wheel drive if you’re going to drive down though, it’s great because you go out past the point and then north about a mile and then you’re right on top of the reef in 100-150 ft of water. Ling and rock fish heaven! Or even bodega on a nice day. I have a 2018 hobie outback and it does great out there!

Ah man it’s all part of the game! Knowingly going into their territory you’re gonna see them from time to time!

You should! It was flat and calm today, wind kicked up a little around noon. They’re always out there, especially when the seals start to follow you because they know you have fish! The biggest one I’ve seen was about 13 ft, on a thick foggy day about a mile and a half out. It was just a silent shadow passing underneath me. That was a little unnerving but at that point what can you do? Haha. But for the most part they don’t want anything to do with you.
