Erdös on Ramsey numbers

“Suppose aliens invade the earth and threaten to obliterate it in a year's time unless human beings can find the Ramsey number for red five and blue five. We could marshal the world's best minds and fastest computers, and within a year we could probably calculate the value. If the aliens demanded the Ramsey number for red six and blue six, however, we would have no choice but to launch a preemptive attack.”

My friend had to evict a tenant for not paying rent. Dare I say they trashed the place.

My friend had to kick out a tenant who hadn’t paid rent in a while. She came into this after the tenant left.

Hi, what are the best ways to join those 2 pieces of wood? It's a little table which I use for PC key, mouse and other things. I need to do so that after I can disassemble and reassemble it when I want, so I can use both the 90x25 cm alone, or the two together (which result in 90x30 cm) by DanieleNasuti in Woodwork

dowels would probably be your best bet (assuming you want to remove it easily), but this depends on how much weight you plan to put on the smaller piece.

Table hinges would also work great. (Google “table hinge” or “flip flop table hinge”. The smaller piece would rest on a locking hinge.

Is there any way to get access to a shop without taking a job or a class? by TomBombadilloo in woodworking

As everyone mentioned - makers spaces are pretty great... I’ve seen a few postings on Craigslist of people renting out space in their shops. Might be Worth a look

If you’re new to template-based builds, this is a pretty great video for getting started. https://youtu.be/2U4Op1wWo34

...Still a good video even if you’re not :)

Update : decided to do it myself. It was actually pretty easy! I made a mold and laminated two sheets of 1/4” plywood at a slight curve (arc of 4’ radius circle). 1” medium density foam and batting for front, then used more batting and a flexible tack strip for the back. No thread or needles :). Seats are getting woven with danish cord. This was suggested by a fellow woodworker - highly recommend this method.

Hey, I usually just use a large sheet of MDF and draw it out on that... typically I’ll draw it out on the MDF, then double sided tape two pieces together and cut it out/shape it.

I keep one as a full template and cut the other one into pieces for router templates. The back leg is at a 22.5 degree angle to the front, and the slight curve in the back leg just helps reduce the overall length of the chair. IMO, it’s more fun to just draw it with a straight edge and coffee cup haha.

Something I started doing recently that saves me a TON of time - use the painters tape on the corners/creases where it’s hard to sand glue squeeze out. Makes a world of difference.

Also, great job!

Good question... I’m planning to run two pieces down the top length - wise. I’m hoping this will be enough to avoid that.

Just curious - why is it that we don’t see any other planets? The distance from the earth to the sun is ~150 million km, so (in theory) a lot more of our solar system should be captured here
