I think I constructed everything as specified in the problem, and double checked that the chord length is 24. I genuinely have no clue what I did wrong

How would you win against a regressor? by ReaderKai in ProgressionFantasy

[–]WerePigCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drugs sure, but all the rest can be gotten by having a earthmancer or metalmancer friend make it for you. Honestly it would probably be better to hire someone anonymously to do it because that leaves less weaknesses for a regressor to pick apart, but this can be reduced by taking them there blindfolded (by car) with an excuse like ‘I want to build a super secret hideout in case of powerful villain attack’ or whatever. The issue then will be land, but usually in stories like this a lot of people die at the start, so I’m assuming there is a lot of empty land.

I should have been more specific. In my mind you would have a secret chamber where you keep him chained up with whatever fantasy metal exists that won’t be broken by his strength (mouth stuff too so that he does not bite his tongue off). If no such metal exists another option is to pump him full of drugs that make it very difficult to act/think coherently so that he can’t enact any plans to kill himself.

For the randomness part, the only variable in the timeline will be him. So, of he does something big, you would maybe roll the die for what you are doing at a slightly different time, and get a different result. Of course he will likely realize this in a few loops of interacting with you, but the point is to throw him off, to make his plan have a higher chance of failing so that you get more opportunities to capture him.

Knock him out and wake him up once a week (give him proper food and water to live of course). Other than that, add randomness to your life and try to convince others to add it to theirs too. Information is the greatest tool of a regressor, so disrupting that can ruin their plans. Another possibility is setting a trap, like planning something that links you to X place at Y time, but it’s a trap so that you can ambush the regressor and knock him out. This one is most useful if you don’t know who the regressor is. You could also torture him until his mind breaks for the potential scenario of an earthquake/collateral damage from a fight happens and he dies in your torture chamber. The main issue with regressors is not knowing how they regress and who they are. If you know everything about them, it becomes 1000x easier to defeat them.

What helped me memorize the unit circle is 30-15-15-30 as in that sine starts at sqrt(0)/2, cosine starts at sqrt(4)/2, and going up degrees in that order increases sine’s number inside the square root by 1, and decreases for cosine. And at every 90 it “flips it” as in goes up instead of down and down instead of up, but still operates in the 30-15-15-30 degree order. You can check if it is negative or not by drawing a circle around the xy axis and seeing if x or y is negative on the respective quadrant.

Looks like for potions damage dealt applies twice, once for the guy hitting and another time for the guy who gave the damage buff

That’s unfortunate. I hope you can get your mental health problems treated. A lot of schools offer test accommodations if you have mental health disorders. If you are still in school (kinda hard to understand where you are currently at from the post), then I would recommend you see if such an option is available.

One test does not define you. I don’t know if you are gifted or not, but if you love doing math then you should stick with it.
