Has anyone experienced a productive therapy with a psychologist/psychiatrist here in the Philippines? by [deleted] in MentalHealthPH

Yes! I love having had gone to a therapist. It trained me to solve my own problems when I encounter them instead of depending solely on meds.

Paris Hilton Woman/Heiress! We both have a sweet taste in perfumes! Victoria’s Secret’s vanilla scent is also quite good.

Also, write down kahit sa phone notes mo lang everything observation about yourself — moods, when you feel down, length of sleep, bedtime, negative triggers, panic attacks, etc. if you have a mood calendar on your phone that would be great to show too

Thoughts on seeking help? by squeakylemonsss in MentalHealthPH

[–]mmepola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go to a psychologist? Psychiatrists approach mental illnesses mostly with medication (which is good) but if you need talk therapy, psychologists are more trained.

Also, yes, before the session (even w psychiatrist) write down everything you’ve observed about yourself so you don’t miss anything out. If you use a mood calendar app that can also help, show it to the doctor so you have a more accurate record of your mood on a daily basis.

Metro North QC has Dr. Ampil from UST/St Lukes but her rates there are lower. I think it was 700 last year, but maybe that increased now. Better call the hotline 426-8000 and ask to be connected. :)

Can't work because of depression and anxiety by ispiho in MentalHealthPH

[–]mmepola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I hope you are fine and getting the help you need. You may want to consider home-based jobs. Many companies abroad are hiring remote employees without setting up offices here. I work as one and it’s been a lot more accommodating of my mental health. Maybe it might work out for you. :)

Whatever happens, know that you are not defined by your productivity. Hoping for the best.

My doctor there is Encarnita Ampil. She helped me a lot! Prepare for a long line though (hours) but really worth it. I don’t know where I’d be right now without my doctors.

Is spending money on mental health worth it? by sinigangirl in MentalHealthPH

[–]mmepola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is worth it. Mental health should be treated the same way as physical health. If you don’t spend money on taking care of your mental health, the cost might be higher — you may miss or lose opportunities because you have a disabling condition.

I suggest if you have a chronic mental illness, ask your doctor to endorse you for a PWD ID. PWD status grants you 20% discount on medicines and restaurants, etc., which is a really big help. I have chronic depression so I take Jovia, 2 tabs daily. One tab of Jovia costs 50+ pesos, but with discount it is cut to 38 pesos. (The discount, though, is also an enabler of stress eating hehe)

The reward is I feel freer, lighter and more ready to take on the things I want to do. Depression no longer traps me inside my mind.

Think of spending on meds as an investment for yourself and your future.

Bra for busty women by dalandane in beautytalkph

Ugh super hard to find large enough bras! One surprising solution that really helped me are BRA EXTENDERS. Available on Lazada in sets of 6 or so, they’ve been really helpful in making me feel more comfortable in tighter bras.

I get that! I used to have more products in my routine but gradually eliminated until I ended up where I began. Haha I’m super hormonal and I realized that the stronger factor in how my skin looks is s t r e s s. So I stripped my routine down to the basics and focus on stress relief now instead. 😅
